iPhone 4S SiriSo the progress news of Siri’s port to iPhone 4 have been trying to break the internet since the launch of iPhone 4S. We earlier showed you a video from a developer who demonstrated that Siri had been ported to iPhone 4 successfully, along with a few limitations, and also posted about the legalities involved in the porting of Siri to non-4S devices.

Well, iOS developer and hacker, F@rZaD has just revealed a how-to guide about the porting procedure of Siri to iPhone 4 and 3GS, along with a video version of the tutorial which is now going viral on YouTube. Just to let you know, this guide only lets you install the GUI (user interface) of Siri on your iPhone 4 or 3GS but not the complete working model.

iSeeU Brings Front-Facing Camera to iPhone 3GS

October 26, 2010 — by Gaurav Kheterpal6

iseeu.jpg

The front-facing camera has proved to be a huge hit in the new iPhone 4. So much so, those iPhone 3G and 3GS owners are seriously cribbing about why Apple did not introduce this feature earlier.

Anyway, not having a front-facing camera on the iPhone 3GS does not mean that you can not have FaceTime-like video calls. There’s “iSeeU” to the rescue. Developed by a Korean company called Playmass, iSeeU is an accessory that clips on your iPhone and unfolds a set of mirrors that virtually transform your device’s rear-facing camera into a front-facing one.

It’s often said that “something is better than nothing” and iSeeU lets iPhone 3GS users have some video calling capabilities rather than no video at all. It is a piece of smart thinking rather than a breakthrough technological innovation. The best part of iSeeU is that you can shoot using a variety of angles without having to move the phone in all directions.

iPhone Tip: How to Use Spell Check Feature in iOS 4

August 23, 2010 — by Simon Ng4

Spell-Check-Backspace.jpg

Spell check is a minor but very handy feature that comes with the iOS 4 update. Probably this is the very first time you know about this feature as it is a relatively minor feature compared with those imminent ones (such as multitasking).

The spell check is a system wide feature added in iOS 4 for both iPhone and iPod touch. In other words, you can use spell checking in most iPhone apps (such as Mail, Notes). Like Microsoft Word or Gmail, word that is considered as misspelled is underlined in red. You can tap on the word and iPhone will popup the suggested replacement. By tapping on the suggested word, the misspelled word will be replaced with the correct one.

Easier Way to Fix “Different SIM Detected” Error for Jailbroken iPhone

August 11, 2010 — by Simon Ng0

Hacktivation-Patch-Cydia.jpg

Earlier, I showed you a way to fix the “Different SIM Detected” error after hacktivation with the phonebook sim. That method does resolve the error but it involves quite a lot of manual procedures. Probably, iPhone beginners will find it difficult to follow.

Thanks for PushFix to bring us an easier way to fix the issue. You no longer need to manually copy the Lockdown folder via iPhone Explorer as described in step 5 to 10 of the earlier guide. PushFix has released a cydia package called “Hacktivation Patch” that automatically patches a system file on your iPhone.

Simply install the patch and the “Different SIM Detected” error will vanish. The patch supports iPhone 3G/3GS running iPhone OS 3.1.2, 3.1.3, 4.0 or 4.0.1, as well as, iPhone 4 running iOS 4.0 or 4.0.1.

Here is the complete procedures to apply the fix.

How to Run Flash on iPhone using Frash

August 10, 2010 — by Simon Ng59

Frash-on-iPhone.jpg

I have just tried out the Frash hack that we have covered yesterday. As you can learn from the version number (i.e. 0.0.2), the hack is still under testing. But it does work as promised and lets you view Flash-based content (e.g. banner) on most websites.

If you want to be an early adopter of Frash, you can now install it on your iPhone via cydia.

Apparently, the hack only works on jailbroken iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4. If you haven’t jailbroken the iPhone, check out this guide and use JailbreakMe to jailbreak it first.

If you are ready, here is the procedure to install Frash on iPhone.

How To Fix “Different SIM Detected” After iPhone Jailbreak

August 8, 2010 — by Simon Ng14

different-sim-detected.jpg

different sim detectedIn late July, we covered a way to activate iPhone with a what-so-called Phonebook SIM card. Early adopters reported that the method worked great and they could easily hactivate the iPhone without an official sim. Lately, however, it was reported the phonebook sim card does no longer work.

What it turn out is that the phonebook sim hack has brought up to Apple’s attention and they immediately developed a fix to block it out. Recently, if you use phonebook sim card to activate an iPhone, you will get a “Different SIM Detected” error and are prompted to connect to iTunes.

That’s really discouraging when you encounter this kind of error. However, someone has already developed a fix to resolve the “Different SIM Detected” issue.

JailbreakMe Utilizes PDF Exploit to Jailbreak Your iPhone

August 5, 2010 — by Simon Ng11

JailbreakMe, the latest version of jailbreak tool, is the first browser-based jailbreak tool. Unlike the earlier jailbreak tools such as Spirit, Redsn0w and PwnageTool, you are not required to download any software for the jailbreak. All you need to is to point the Mobile Safari to jailbreak.com and the entire jailbreak process is done within the browser.

I believe many of you have jailbroken your iPhone using JailbreakMe. But you probably do not know what’s going on behind the “Slide to jailbreak” button.

Complete Guide: How To Jailbreak iPhone 4, 3GS, 3G on iOS 4

August 3, 2010 — by Simon Ng93

jailbreakme-completed.jpg

jailbreakme logoAs you know, the iPhone Dev team has released a browser-based jailbreak tool known as jailbreakme that is capable to jailbreak all models of iPhone including iPhone 4, 3GS (both old and new bootrom) and 3G running on the latest version of iOS (i.e. 4.0 or 4.0.1).

If you have used Spirit before, you should enjoy the one-click jailbreak process. But I can say “Jailbreakme” is even simpler and more user-friendly than Spirit. It is so simple that I wonder if I still need to write a guide for it.

Anyway, to let those who do not familiar with the jailbreak process, here is the step-by-step guide to show you the process.

Before kicking off the jailbreak…
