Unboxing and first impression: BOHM SoundBlock Wireless Bluetooth Speaker

April 10, 2015 — by Xin Chan4

I have been using a SCOTT Bluetooth Portable Speaker BT700 for about 1.5 year and I am quite satisfied with its performance, sound quality and the base output. It costed me around $30 at that time and I felt that was quite a good deal.

Recently, before the Easter holiday, I found a real good deal on Amazon for BÖHM SoundBlock Wireless Bluetooth Speaker for around $50 only (original price $140). The customer reviews are good and it has quite a good rating. I personally really like the outlook of this speaker. The size is also optimal for my desk. Simply say this speaker is something that I have been looking for.

Review: Twelve South BaseLift for MacBook

March 27, 2015 — by Xin Chan2

I have seldom been so crazy to purchase a gadget right on the launch day, especially accessories for my Apple Products. I usually wait and see and check out numbers of reviews before I cash in. But I really love this product at first sight and I wanted it for my MacBook Pro for long. It is BaseLift for MacBook presented by Twelve South, launched last Wednesday.

It is a super-thin, microfiber-layered integrated stand and lap pad for MacBooks, which fits all current MacBook Pro and Air models, with the following features in summary:

– Super thin and light (3.7 mm, 119 g)
– Tilts MacBook to a comfortable typing angle (10 degrees, elevates by 32 mm)
– Improves air circulation
– Protects your thighs from the heat emitted
– Attaches to MacBook to go everywhere you go
– Protects and adds comforts to the bottom of your MacBook
– Easy to remove anytime, leaving no residue behind
– Easily fits into most bags and MacBook cases

BaseLift features a two-piece design. You can find inside the package the primary BaseLift Pad and an optional secondary Fit Strip for 13 and 15-inch models. Don’t panic when you open the box as there is a very comprehensive installation guide with graphical illustrations to help you out in getting the product set up and works well. Notably speaking, don’t just look at the pictures but also the words, you need to be careful with the alignment of the pad in order to have the best balance and experience when you flip your MacBook upside down again.

MindNode Updated for iPhone 6 With New Features

November 3, 2014 — by Xin Chan1

A while ago I was engaged in a business plan with a friend of mine about mobile games. Mind-mapping is the very first thing after brainstorming in order to best capture and visualise our pieces of ideas. It is yet one of the best school-taught methods to organise ideas in an intuitive way. I did try a few iOS apps on the iPad that allow me to do so. However, they never do a good job due to some weird bugs or lack of ease to use. Until recently I opted into MindNode.

Be more decisive with Indecisive

October 29, 2014 — by Xin Chan0

Life is full of decisions. Now with some iPhone apps you do not have to think it in your brain or find pencil and paper for evaluating your choices and making a quick decision that is best suiting your needs. Recently, I had luck to a redeem code of Indecisive – decision maker and risk analysis tool for objectively choosing the best choice on Reddit from its developer and glad to try it out for free.

If you are an indecisive person (Disclaimer: I am not), Indecisive helps you make a better decision by allowing you to objectively evaluate each choice and advise you the best option with a few clicks.

Share Lovely Emoji Combos with Emoji Keypad

October 27, 2014 — by Xin Chan0

One of the most anticipated and welcomed features in iOS 8 is that users are able to add third-party keyboards, which has been long available on Android. There has been tons of options that serve various purposes but yet to be very smooth. Emoji has been a built-in keyboard in earlier iOS releases. However, you cannot get beyond the standard set that more than a single emotion icon with a single click. If you need a combined one, either, with your creativity, or copy it from apps, website or message history. Now, with Emoji Keypad, you will have a library of Emoji combined emoji presets right from the iOS keyboard.

45 Awesome Widgets for iOS 8

October 13, 2014 — by Xin Chan1

It has been quite a while since iOS 8 release and we are already expecting iOS 8.1 to drop later this month. Coming from a jailbroken iPhone 5s to an unjailbreakable iPhone 6 running iOS 8.0.2, one of the most useful features to me is Notification Centre Widgets, plus you can remove the stock iOS widgets as well. With increasing number of third party apps adding this feature as well as standable apps for widget for specific purposes, I am now picking 20 of them that I have been using or trying out throughout the weeks. Let us start from those standalone widgets.
