Taking screenshots is something that everyone of us does on a daily basis if not really often. It allows you to capture glitches on the screen, show off your high scores, and making tutorials. Unlike iOS devices (iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad) taking a screenshot on your Apple TV require a bit of work but we will get through that together.
The first thing you want to do is take out your Mac with Xcode 7 or higher installed and turn on your Apple TV, of course. Once you have those materials out, connect your tvOS to your Mac computer and open Xcode. Now you either go to Window > Devices in the menu bar or press Command + Shift + 2 as a shortcut. Select Apple TV on the sidebar and click on Take Screenshot.
As expected, whatever you see on your Apple TV at that moment will be captured and saved as a screenshot on your Mac.
What about recording a video? Don’t disconnect your Apple TV and Mac just yet. Close Xcode and launch QuickTime Player. This program will let you record your Apple TV screen. Click File > New Movie Recording and press on the Record button. Then choose your Apple TV under the sources and you are now recording.
Alternatively for those of you who doesn’t have Xcode on your Mac. You can follow the recording method and then screenshot part of the video. Let me know how everything works out for you in the comment section below.
