“The new YouTube update for iPhone and iPad sucks”
That is the #1 comment I’ve seen so far throughout the days since YouTube decided to update its application to the latest version that everyone thought that it’s just going to fix some bugs. However, the Google-owned company decided to change their overall layout, especially the navigation, and somewhat makes it uncomfortable for users to move around.
I have to spend at least a few minutes to figure out what just happen and where do I go to check for What’s New from my subscribed channels, manage the account, and stuff like that. It’s agreeable that the new YouTube app isn’t enjoyable and easy to move around like the previous version.
Luckily, there is a way to get the old design back, sorta. A team of developers just release a new jailbreak tweak called YTOldNav for jailbroken iPhone and iPad that brings back the old navigation to YouTube app. This tweak will carefully blend in with the current YouTube version but still be able to revert the navigation back. Check it out.
Notice how the new bright red top bar is no longer there and you can actually recognize the old navigation in the new YouTube app. All the menus are still there and this tweak doesn’t create any problems so far. If you hate the new YouTube app redesign, considering this jailbreak tweak.
YTOldNav will not be available in any of your default Cydia repositories, instead it will be downloadable by adding this source: http://repo.ioscreatix.com/
Once the package is installed, just head over to your YouTube app and enjoy. There are no settings needed to be configured. In case, Google decided to release an update that prevent this tweak from working, be sure to launch Cydia and see if there is a new version of YTOldNav as well.
