As Instagram users, we all have to admit that Instagram still lack important features. This gave many iOS developers the opportunity to create third-party applications to meet these needs. However, I know that the team behind Instagram is working extremely hard to roll out new features for its users. For example, in today’s update, the Facebook-owned company has made it possible to post landscape, portrait photos and videos without using any third-party applications from the App Store.
Instagram v7.5 update is now available on Apple’s App Store for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. As mentioned earlier, this update adds support for landscape and portrait formats, which is fully compatible with pictures and videos. This is helpful as it give users more freedom when it comes to shooting and uploading photos to the network.
Today, we’re excited to announce that — in addition to square posts — you can now share photos and videos in both portrait and landscape orientation on Instagram
Before this update, users are stuck with the square format, this has caused too many problems. The well-known one is where people got cropped out of a picture. To avoid this issue, Instagram users are forced to use applications like InstaSize to edit their picture and have the photo posted the way it was taken.
It turns out that nearly one in five photos or videos people post aren’t in the square format, and we know that it hasn’t been easy to share this type of content on Instagram: friends get cut out of group shots, the subject of your video feels cramped and you can’t capture the Golden Gate Bridge from end to end.
This landscape and portrait modes are some of the most requested features and we’re glad that Instagram has added into their core application.
There aren’t much to say anymore because this recently updated version is so straightforward. I know you guys are excited to give it a try. iPhone and iPad users can download the latest Instagram version from here or go straight to the Update section from your App Store. Be sure to let us know how it went and if there are any bugs.
