With powerful cameras being part of smartphones people around the world are free to record short videos and share it with their friends and family. These videos can be slowed-downed or made to play faster to give them a unique look. The Tempo Video Editor app by Fly Labs Inc. is a free app that allows you to be creative with the tempo of videos you make.
As the name of the app implies Tempo allows you to slow down videos or speed them up depending on what works for you, while they play in real time. While I appreciated the fact that the app is free I was a bit disappointed to find out that the videos made through it ended up having watermarks which cost $4.99 to be removed. If you are okay with watermarked videos then this app has a lot of fun things to offer.
How to use Tempo for iPhone
Tempo allows you to use any video you have on your camera roll as well as the video you record through this app. Once you launch Temp you will be shown a set of options. It’s very easy to understand.
You can select the ‘Fastest’ option to make your video play at full speed, or comparatively slow down a bit by selecting the ‘Fast’ option. You can also slow things down to a great extent by selecting the ‘Slow’ or ‘Slowest’ options showing on the screen.
Once you are happy with the tempo of your video you can add music. The app brings up your iTunes library in an efficient manner and you can search for songs alphabetically, through genre, artists, and so on. The downside of all this is that not selecting a song will seriously mess with the video’s original sound.
If you select a song then it will play without any interruption, however, if you don’t put in a song then the original sound of the video will either play too fast or too slow, depending on the tempo you’ve selected. I do feel that the app should’ve allowed users to mute the original sound in videos if they didn’t want to put in a song.
You can edit a video as much as you like until you are satisfied with the final product. Another good thing about this app is that you can export the videos you’ve made to Instagram, Whatsapp, Messages app, and Facebook Messenger.
Videos can also be saved on the camera roll of your iPhone. Keep in mind that exporting to Instagram might need you to shorten the length of the video you’ve created.
While paying to remove watermarks and not having a ‘mute’ option are disadvantages in this app, Tempo is still a fun to play around with. So if you have been looking for a way to slow up and speed up videos in real time, this is the app you should be exploring.
You can download Tempo free of cost from the App Store. It works on iOS 8.1 and above. Let us know your thoughts if you give it a try.
