Though we’ve already covered several photo editing applications, there’s always a new one making its way and managing to spark our interest. Once such newly released app is the slick and powerful photo editor by Bergen – Darkroom.

It just launched a few days ago and offers a number of features for editing images on iOS, including a curves tool, a DIY photo filter, and an infinite history with all the edits. And some of the features give you the editing powers that goes beyond simple photo editing.

How to use Darkroom for iOS

After downloading and installing the app, you can see the photo editor which offers cropping and several mono & color filters. It stands out from other apps by granting you the ability to create your own filters and play with the curves.

The curves feature can be powerful and useful. All the changes you make can be seen in real time. For example, with a landscape image, the app will give you the ability to insert a blue to fill the empty sky, without making changes to other elements of the image.

Another useful feature is the infinite history. It gives you the ability to undo, all the way to the first edit. This enables you to experiment, without getting deeply involved in the weeds when you have several edits. Darkroom puts the entire image library in front for making imports easy and quick.

The app offers 12 filters, all of which work fine as stand-alone options. The filters can be tweaked in several ways, and can be saved and applied to other images. The filter can be added to list of built-in filters and can be named anything.

Other useful options are for cropping and the ability to rotate the image. The crop will resize the image to cover any blank parts that surface after rotation. The output options will let you share the edited image to Instagram, camera roll and other destinations on your device. The photo can also be saved in a square format to make it friendly for Instagram upload.

The app offers something different and is likely to get you to use it for its new offerings. The design is sleek and fits in well with the overall aesthetics. It works on iOS 8.0 and above.
