Voice changing isn’t a new concept on smartphones, but most apps that are available for the purpose provide an option to make custom voice tones before a phone call is made. The new jailbreak app VoiceChanger goes one above by allowing users to change the voice during the call. It’s a pretty fascinating and fun app that brings multiple voice effects.
After downloading and installing the tweak, a new menu is going to be added to the stock Settings app. The tweak doesn’t spring into action on its own and you have to enable it manually through the menu section. Apart from that toggle, there is a Voice Effect section in the menu that is responsible for most of the functioning.
‘Normal-No Effect’ is the option that is set by default by the tweak. The preferred effect doesn’t need to be selected upon installation, as you can even select any one of them while talking. There are four different effects present at the moment: Tenoro, Smurf, Rumplestiltskin, Smurf and Dark Lord.
To enable an effect during the call, press the Home button and go to the tweak’s menu to get it done.
The tweak isn’t clear of limitations though. Some of the effects don’t lead to a clear voice at the receiver’s end. Furthermore, VoiceChanger is only compatible with A5 devices at the moment – iPhone 5 and iPhones 4S.
Other than that, the voice effects work pretty well and as you can disable it, it doesn’t interfere with normal call function. The developer is expected to make improvements over time as well.
The tweak is available at Cydia Store and you can download it from the BigBoss repository. It is priced at $2.99. Let us know your thoughts on it.
