iOS users are left with little choice after they accidentally bring up the keyboard on their iPhone, letting them wonder if there’s any way to get rid of the keyboard when it’s not needed. There is no particular app for the purpose, but jailbreak app developers always have something up their sleeves. The Cydia Store has lately received DismissMyKeyboard, a new tweak that brings an option to dismiss the keyboard on iPhone and iPod Touch with the help of a simple gesture.
The functionality of the tweak is simple; it removes the keyboard whenever it’s not needed. After installation, there won’t be any new menu in the stock Settings app or any toggles. DismissMyKeyboard is activated automatically after installation.

The gesture that is needed to dismiss the keyboard is a simple swipe from the space key to the return key next to it. The tweak is also going to function if the return key is currently playing the role of search or send key. For those of you who have the SwipeSelection keyboard, you’ll have to swipe the other way (from the space key to the return key) and to dismiss the keyboard, you’ve to tap the return key again after the swipe gesture.
The tweak is ideal when you need to view more content on the screen. It’s easy to bring the keyboard back up again by tapping anywhere in text field. The limitation is the default gesture, and there’s no other gesture that can be selected.
DismissMyKeyboard is a free of charge download. You can locate it at the Cydia Store through the BigBoss repository. It works on iOS 5 and above. Let us know your thoughts if you give it a try.
