It is 2013! The future is here! Bring on the flying cars, self lacing boots, manned missions to mars, and eyePhones! Ok… so maybe those things are still a little ways off, but here are 5 super cool iPhone 5 cases that are coming soon for you to feast your eyes on while you wait.
PopSlate iPhone 5 E-Ink Case
PopSlate started life as an IndieGogo project, and it’s been picking up steam ever since. In fact, you can still pledge to the wildly successful campaign for 15 more days if you want. popSlate is a case that turns the back of your iPhone 5 into an always-on second screen using E-Ink technology. Users will be able to “pop” whatever images they want from their iPhones to the back screen, or even send images and ‘pops’ to their friends using the app. The screen will have all kinds of functionality, including working as an always on e-reader that is semi-touch sensitive (it utilizes the iPhone’s built-in accelerometer to register taps). The 4” E-Ink screen will draw its power from the phone itself, but it will be a negligible amount thanks to the technology involved. It’s a super cool case, and it should be coming very very soon. Look for the PopSlate in Q1 of 2013! More details here.
The TAKTIK iPhone 5 case is another wildly successful crowd funding project that began as a Kickstarter, and raised 453% of it’s original goal. This case is a precision milled rugged case combining a passion for design with a love of all things rugged. It’s easily going to be one of the most rugged cases on the market when it comes out with things like a Gorilla Glass Lens, shockproof suspension systems, rugged aluminum water resistant casing, and more. I mean… just look at it! It’s a beast! It will also have a host of accessories like a bike mount, hip holster, lanyard attachments, and more. You can expect to see these Lunatik TAKTIK cases coming in either Q1 or Q2 of 2013. Check it out here.
HitCase Pro for iPhone 5
The HitCase iPhone 5 case is another beast of a case coming in 2013. This case a waterproof ruggedized case with built in wide angle lens and rail slide mounting system. So you can strap the HitCase onto any GoPro compatible mount and capture the action as it happens. This lets you replace your helmet cam or chest cam with your iPhone, and keeps it safe in a ruggedized case that eats abuse for breakfast. Designed for extreme sports enthusiasts, fire and rescue workers, and anybody who needs a heavy duty waterproof case in their life. The HitCase Pro for iPhone 5 is coming soon, and you can join their email list to stay updated.
ReadyCase iPhone 5 Case
The swiss army knife of cases, the ReadyCase is another crowd funded project that garnered a huge following. This case is an ultra-slim and ultra-functional iPhone accessory. It comes with a removable mini-knife and bottle opener with cerated and smooth edges. It has a USB flash drive (either 8 gig or 16 gig) that doubles as a stand, and it comes with a headphone cord clip. Perhaps the coolest feature is the magnetic ring around the camera for quick and easy lens attachment- either fish eye, macro, or wide angle. All this fits into a case that is just 3mm thick! You can expect to see this case hitting the market towards the end of February 2013, and we’ll be at the front of the line! Check it out here.
Mophie Juice Pack for iPhone 5
Last, but not least is the Mophie Juice Pack. This is the case outdoor enthusiasts are most excited for. It combines an external battery pack with a ruggedized iPhone case for extended back-country usage. The case is durable and shock absorbing, it is water resistant, and designed to boost your GPS signal so you can go where no iPhone has gone before. Their cases for the iPhone 4 were a huge hit, and we can’t wait to see what they have up their sleeve for the iPhone 5. You can expect the iPhone 5 version to be hitting the sleeves some time in Q1 2013. Stay tuned here for updates.
