Team Hackulous announced that it is shutting down, bringing down two of the most popular piracy apps in the jailbreak community: App Sync and Installous. These two piracy apps helped us saved quite a few bucks on paid apps available on App Store.
The team posted a message on website regarding the shut down:
Goodnight, sweet prince.
We are very sad to announce that Hackulous is shutting down. After many years, our community has become stagnant and our forums are a bit of a ghost town. It has become difficult to keep them online and well-moderated, despite the devotion of our staff. We?re incredibly thankful for the support we?ve had over the years and hope that new, greater communities blossom out of our absence.
With lots of love,
Installous makes its easier for users to install cracked apps onto the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. That’s not all! The App Sync makes sure that these cracked apps can be synced. As of this writing, Hackulous repo is down. It also means, neither users can install Hackulous and App Sync. FYI, These two apps are essential when installing cracked apps from third-party piracy sites.
Is this a time to mumble and grumble? I think not. Hackulous may be gone, but we are pretty sure developers will pick up where Hackulous team stopped. Although this may take some time, since we all know there’s no available untethered jailbreak for iPhone 5 and iOS 6. Probably, this may also be one of the reasons.
One of the reasons why people jailbreak the iOS devices because of the perks of getting piracy app through these apps instead of buying the licensed copy on App Store, which some of them are quite expensive.
If Apple users can afford to buy $400-$600 device, can’t they afford $0.99 worth of an app? That’s a great news if you are a developer. It’s a victory over piracy, and an expense for us consumers. Yet, it may be an expense. But hey, this is the real economy. We get the perks of pleasure, productivity and entertainment.
What do you think?
