Finally Google Maps App is Back to iOS 6

Google comes with a right-hook punch to Google Maps today. Yes! The native maps for iOS is now available with rich-features and intuitive functionality. Few months ago, We featured an update about Google Building Separate Maps App for iPhone and iPad, and the timeline was close to what the analysts predicted.

The company has spent seven years refining its offering to make the app as gorgeous as possible. The team’s efforts and hard work paid off – the internal systems, UI, smooth graphics that run like a video game, new swipe gestures that pop up the menus and more. The UI experience is contagious.

Drew Olanoff of TechCrunch also mentioned some drawbacks.

“Now here?s the bad news on this version of Google Maps, there are no biking directions, offline mode (although as soon as you get a route, it is cached on your device), indoor maps or offers as of yet. This would seem to be incomplete, but clearly the team wanted to put together a fantastic Maps app that serves the need of iOS users right this moment. Yes, Google didn?t want to pack everything in too tightly until the world had a chance to play with it. Fair enough, but some of these things would have been nice.

• Progressive user interface in vector based
• Speed and search features (very fast)
• Swipe gesture for “info sheet” that display the info of the place
• Guided voice navigation for directions (driving and walking)
• 360-degree panoramas of places around the globe with Street View
• Fully optimised for iPhone 5

Overall, Google maps is not absolutely perfect though. But it works better than Apple Maps. Think about the capacity of Google’s power house when transferring data to your device over 3G, LTE and Wi-Fi. Impressive, isn’t?
