This tutorial is for public use. We recently published the same topic about iOS 6 tethered jailbreak. However, that tutorial was intended for developers. We give credit to the iPhone Dev Team for this new release of RedSn0w 0.9.15b2, which fixes the issues of iPhone 3GS and provides support for iPad baseband changes.
Please take note that this jailbreak is a tethered jailbreak for A4 devices:
- iPhone 3GS
- iPhone 4
- iPod Touch 4G
- iPad 1
Now you can install Cydia on your device and enjoy a plethora of jailbreak tweaks.
Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to jailbreak your A4 device. Please take note that this is a tethered version, which means you need to connect your device when you turn it on. Make sure you back up all your data before you proceed.
Make sure your device has the latest software, iOS 6. If you haven’t updated to the latest version read our tutorial on how to download and upgrade to iOS 6.
Extract the Redsnow .zip file and run the program.
Please make sure your device (iPhone 3GS/iPhone 4/iPod Touch 4G) is connected to your computer.
Switch your device off and follow the instructions on-screen and enter in DFU mode.
The Redsnow program will start exploiting your device. Click “Install Cydia from the Option Menu. Make sure your device is connected to your computer during the process.
How to Boot Tethered Device
Run the Resdonw program.
Go to Extras and click Just Boot.
Click next and execute the DFU mode.
You will do these three steps whenever you boot your device. As of this writing, there is no untethered jailbreak. If you do not find the tethered version cumbersome, you can settle for this one temporarily.
We update you once the untethered version comes out.
Tell us if you have any problems with your device.
