Earlier, we covered how you can add the mobile version of Google Maps as a home screen icon. This is a workaround for iOS 6 users to use Google Maps on their iPhone or iPad.
The Google Maps icon is actually a shortcut to launch the mobile Google Maps in Safari. But there is one thing that affects the user experience. The toolbar at the bottom is not hidden and takes up certain screen real estate.
Here is a better way to add Google Maps on your iOS 6 device. It’s even simpler and allows you to use the mobile Google Maps in full screen without the toolbar. Simply follow the below procedures to install it.
1. Launch mobile Safari on your device. Depending on the device you’re using, tap one of the following links:
2. You’ll be directed to another screen to install the profile. Just tap the “Install” button to proceed.

3. When prompted, tap “Install Now” to proceed. The installation process should be completed within a few seconds and you can tap “Done” to go back to the home screen.

You should now see a new Google Maps icon appeared in the home screen. Tap on it to launch the Google Maps and browse the map in full screen without any toolbars.

While we’re still waiting for a separate Maps app from Google, I think this is the best workaround to access Google Maps on your iOS 6 devices.
