Clear Vision App Review: Simple Stickmen that tell quite a story

Clear Vision has been on my radar for quite a while but I kept downloading it on the backburner as I am not really into sniper games.  One reason why it stands out is because they had so many ratings on the App Store (3000++).  You get ratings for 2 reasons ? being good or being really bad.  Usually being really good.

I downloaded the game and completed the game (and story) in an hour.  What amazed me was how a simple game featuring stickmen would be so captivating.  Here is the storyline:

Tyler Smith is a loser who quits his Supermarket job after getting pissed off too many times.  With no prospect of a job and being late on rent he decides to pick up the hunting rifle and begin life as a hotman.

As Tyler, you shuffle around an empty apartment. The interface is simple, you can:

  • Look at a newspaper (some funny stories here)
  • Go out to watch and bet your money on underground boxing
  • Visit the gun shop to buy new guns
  • Read your mail accept new missions.

Gameplay

The missions and gameplay is pretty basic. You look pick up missions, look thru the sniper sniper scope, take wind and distance into account and make the kill. The game prompts you along and it is almost impossible to fail.  However, if you do fail, you can try it again.

Upon the mission?s success, you collect your money, return to the apartment and start over. Some missions vary, like activating a car bomb, an interrogation, and even dropping poison into a mark?s coffee.  However, most of the 20++ games are repetitive.

When a Game looks like a failure but its Not

The graphics are simple, and gameplay is basic and repetitive.  Clear Vision is clearly a failure, but it really isn?t.  The simple stick figures and story of Tyler Smith and his surroundings and relationships clearly tells a rather riveting story of a loser pushed to his wits end.  A loser we all wished would win.

Clear Vision is a refreshing title because it tells you that you can do so much with so little.  The quaint drawings of the Tylor Smith?s home shows his desperation in the beginning, then when he met his love interest in the bodacious stick form of Diana and moved to nicer surroundings I clearly felt for this guy.  Completing the missions just became a 2nd thought as I really wanted to see what happens next.

Wrapping Up – This game is not for hardcore gamers

Don?t download this game if you are a hardcore shooting gamer.  However, if you want to see how a simple theme can also be a riveting and captivating game with an excellent storyline, you can do what I did and download Clear Vision for 0.99.  It’s a universal app so its available for the iPhone and iPad.
