Mophie Juice Pack Pro: The Rugged iPhone Battery Case

To all jetsetters and sports-enthusiasts and check out this Mophie Juice Pack Pro battery case. If you?re looking for durability and protection, a rugged monster case is what you need.

Mophie?s Juice Pack battery case provides battery life extending closure and protection.

We have different preferences when it comes to iPhone cases. It depends on our profession, lifestyle and hobbies. Travelers, divers, and beach bums may find the Waterproof 0.25 mm Case Marine useful. The waterproof case probably received some jaw-dropping ooh?s and aah?s feedback.

Here comes the Mophie Juice Pack Pro in ?Autobot? design. It transforms your iPhone into an unscathed and indestructible machine. Mophie claims,

?The juice pack PRO provides you with the confidence that your iPhone can lead you through the most demanding conditions. With the largest battery ever built into a juice pack case, complimented by a belt clip and rugged good looks, the juice pack PRO is the perfect adventure companion. Stay off the grid all weekend.?

The case features an environmental-resistant design according to Mophie. It exceeds military specification with MIL-STD 810G, which tests products across a vast range of environmental conditions ? rain, altitude, shock, low and high exposure to temperatures, humidity, dust, sand and even gunfire.

It?s heavy duty. Probably, police officers and army should use this iPhone case. But for average Joe, it totally depends on lifestyle and uncontrollable desire of protecting the device.

The Pro features 2500 mAh lithium-ion battery, which adds 150% extra battery life, Mophie claims. The handy case is the largest battery case Mophie currently promotes. It is made up of polycarbonate-silicone protective wrap with waterproof speaker cover. The case comes with USB cable for charging and synchronization without removing the unit from the case.

Personally, I like the Otterbox cases and other similar designs, just like the Mophie, a giant girt on our device, it possesses added functionality. However, the downside of the case is that it is not waterproof. It can stand little drizzles, but not ideal for swimming and other water-related sports.

It comes with a belt clip too, tagged at $129.95.

Is Mophie Juice Pack Pro worth every penny?

It looks cool, but you didn’t say if it effects the call signal strength.. I have another case for extra battery life but it takes from the signal..

  • Chris Tyson

The case is nice and does not take away from reception. But be advised that you will lose sound quality. Also, you will hear an echo when talking on phone. Overall, the case is nice and is a BEAST of a case. If they will fix sound quality, I will keep it.

  • Ian Cooper

I can’t get the damned thing open to put my iphone in it.

  • James Price

I have been a user of the Mophie Juice packs for over a year and really like them. When the Juice Pack Pro came out I immediately ordered one and thought this would be the best Mophie pack yet, but i am disappointed. First, everyone i talk to on the phone heres a echo. If i plug in a wired headset or use a bluetooth there is no echo which means there is a problem with the placement of the openings for the mic, and i also have gone to different locations to make sure it was not the cell site. Second, the clear front plastic screen was marred/scratched when i open the box, i tried cleaning it with a microfiber cloth but it still has this marring/scratching look to it. You do not notice too much when the screen is on but when its off, it looks like you rubbed that plastic clear cover on the road. I wrote to their customer service asking if they have had any complaints about the screen and they sent me a email stating i wanted a refund, which is not what i asked. Third, as for putting the phone into the case if you have never put your iPhone into a Otter Case then you will find it a little difficult to put it all together. The rubber boot that surrounds the entire case is thick and stiff so there is not a lot of play in it. It is a shame as this battery pack can really let you use this phone without worry about the phone going dead, Hopefully Mophie will see some of these reviews and do the tweaking thats needed.

    • Texas iPhoner

      Hi James et al:
I had the exact same experience with the echo. I have informed the company and they claim that they have a fix and are even providing free shipping for me to send the device back in excahnge for an error free one.

Email their tech support group for details.

  • Ian Cooper

I finally managed to get it open, but I’m having the same problem James has with it – people on the other end can’t hear me properly. I don’t know what Mophie did, but they seem to have covered over the microphone somehow. Every telephone conversation since I put the case on the phone has involved the person on the other end complaining that they couldn’t hear me.

There are also other significant concerns – in order of importance, they are as follows:

    1. The protective screen gets attached to the glass face in places due to static cling so that it looks like it has strange pools of water between the surfaces. Mophie tried to remedy this by including a matte finish screen protector, but that doesn’t work because if you get even a speck of dust under there, or if you touch the screen while you’re installing it, it looks terrible. Why couldn’t the protective screen have a matte finish on the side that touches the iPhone screen? That way, it wouldn’t have this problem. As it is, there is no good way to make the product look decent, which I think is grounds for returning it all by itself.

    2. The belt attachment is clunky and poorly designed – it takes two hands to remove the phone from the clip and I find my fingers struggling to get into the right place to securely bring out the phone – one fumble and I might easily drop it. Also, the belt clip itself is not removable, making the clip body itself unusable as a way to give extra protection to the phone if it was kept in one’s pocket. One more thing – there’s no satisfying ‘snap’ when the clip attaches, which makes me fear it’s not properly attached. All-in-all, the belt clip is useless.

    3. It takes a couple of minutes just to get the case onto the phone. I don’t mind rubber cases, but getting this on is ridiculously finicky and time-consuming. Sure, you don’t have to put it on more than once, but surely it shouldn’t need to be this difficult.

I can’t actually use the phone while using this case, which is a fatal flaw. Also, the phone looks awful when in the case due to the screen‘s static cling or due to use of the included screen protector. If one can’t use the phone properly, and if the phone looks bad, these are big issues. I hope Mophie do a redesign that addresses these concerns. In the meantime, I’m trying to get my money back until Mophie come out with a redesign for this product.

    • Dwight

The belt clip is almost worthless. With the rubber case on it doesn’t fit well and the clip needs to be moved closer to one end like the Ballistic case … This clip just doesn’t fit right on the pants!!!

Just removed the plastic cover over the camera lens due to everything being blue when using the flash. Solved the problem

  • Matthias

The echo fix of blowing hard onto the microphone membrane does not work for me! A sent replacement case had exactly the same problem, what can I do ? What will Mophie do? I used to be very sattisfied with Mophie

    • Texas iPhoner

Wow .. please ignore the optimisim I offerd in my message above. (post of offered to James). You are way ahead of me with unfortunate results. No cool at all .. as like you I have used their products for years.

I’m going to email the CEO – and see what I get back. If I get zip, I’ll tell teh world, if I get a good result I’ll posit it here :-)

      • Kurt Webster

I wouldn’t bank on getting a response from Daniel (CEO). If you read my posts further down, you’ll see my experience with that. Maybe you’d have better luck with that than I did. Not saying that you shouldn’t try. Just don’t get your hopes too high.

  • Stefan

I also had the echo problem. After lots of frustration I decided to get rid of the protective plastic film in the case as well as the membranes covering the mic/speaker openings. This fixed the echo and audio problems. I am convinced that this is a design flaw. Nonetheless, I still have a rugged case, not waterproof, but usable. Mophie also sent me a replacement case, but I am still waiting to receive it via Fedex. I doubt if they will be able to fix this problem without a total redesign.

    • Steve

Would removing the membranes alone clear up the echo problem?

      • Stefan

I think so. The idea I’m getting, is that the sound gets caught up inside the case and it causes echoes. If you remove the membranes, you should essentially allow the sound to escape without getting reflected back into the microphone. I do not know how other manufacturers of waterproof cases got past this problem. Does anyone know?

        • Matthias

Hi Stefan, pitty you removed so much of the protective stuff, I received the 2nd replacement and could not believe, bit it works. Covered the proximity sensor, blew into the mic, reception is just okay, audio quality not good, but at least the echo is gone. My recommendation, ask, ask, ask Mophie whe you are not satisfied.
          Good luck,

        • Matthias

And, life proof has an excellent case, however without battery, snow lizard brings out a completely waterproof case, a monster in size, quality yet unknown

  • Stefan

Matthias, thank you for the advice. I am still waiting on the first replacement. I must say that the support from Mophie was just great up to now. Can you see what has been changed?

    • Matthias

Could not see what changed and called people are not happy with volume of my voice. The life proof case has excellent audio quality, is not bulky and still sturdy. Only thing I did not like is sticky, slow reacting cover foil

  • Stefan

Have you looked at the new Otterbox Armor case? Also waterproof and a bit bulky, but no belt clip as far as I can see. I like to have my phone in a belt clip.

    • Matthias

No, really prefer a cover with extra power, still, thanks for the tip

  • Ian Cooper

I finally fixed the echo and sound problems. I think blowing hard into the microphone holes probably dislodges the film covers for the holes, because I simply removed them and the problem is completely gone. Now sound is perfectly loud and clear. The film pieces are not very securely attached, and they pull off (and presumably blow loose) very easily.

The fix makes the case less water-resistant, but it’s not like it was waterproof before.

I also removed all the other plastic/mylar screens from the case, as all they did was get in the way and collect scratches and dust. Again, less water-resistant, but it’s not like I ever had problems with water getting into the phone.

Now I have a much better case and a phone inside that can actually be used to make phone calls – wonder of wonders! The fact that it was impossible to make clear calls while using this case ought to be an embarrassment to Mophie, but I’ll be surprised if they ever even admit there’s a problem. They will most likely simply remove the film covers from the microphone holes and pretend the whole thing was just a conspiracy to discredit the company.

I still wonder whether Mophie ever actually tested an iPhone in their case, beyond ensuring that it fit. One phone call would surely have clued them in to the problem.

    • Stefan

I agree Ian. I don’t think it was thoroughly tested… Glad you got yours to work. Still a nice case with good battery backup!

      • Ian Cooper

It is indeed a nice case with good battery capacity.

Now that I’ve got it to work to my satisfaction, I’m testing out the length of time I can use it under normal conditions – so far it’s in its into its 6th day – I’ve done one full charge from the Juice Pack Pro, which now shows 1 light remaining, so over 25% left after one charge. The phone itself is at 91%. Given that, I fully expect to get at least 10 days out of it. I’m not a heavy iPhone user though, so some folks might get considerably less time from it. A lot depends on what apps are heavy power users.

Compared to the Juice Pack Plus (which gives my iPhone one full charge and that’s it), this case has at least 25% more capacity.

  • Stefan

I have just received my replacement Mophie case. Still experienced the same audio problem. I removed just the water resistant membranes this time and the audio is perfect. I think Mophie got it wrong with this case. Hope they get a solution.

    • Matthias

Coulc Mophie not just save some money and send changed covers to folks instead of full replacements that still don’t work. Lifeproof cover is completely waterproof and has mic membranes that work nicely, i really can recommend their case, audio is even better than without case and front cover very hard to scratch. Watch out for the snow lizard case coming out, even includes solar charging !

      • Ian Cooper

“Coulc Mophie not just save some money and send changed covers to folks instead of full replacements that still don’t work.”

I think Mophie hasn’t yet figured out what the problem is. We’re ahead of the curve here, while Mophie is still caught up in the bureaucracy. All of the complaints and returns probably go to a public relations department that has nothing to do with mechanical testing and evaluating the validity of the complaints.

  • Elliot

I waited for this case to be a available and ordered it the day the product launched. I purchased two- one for me and one for my wife. I’ve experienced all the same problems youve mentioned here. Poor sound quality, horrible echoes unless using speakerphone or wired mic, very poor volume on speakerphone, no-click case/phone reaction upon bolstering in case. The belt clip broke last night into three pieces and I purchased this clip as I must have a belt clip for my phone case.
I also believe the case was never properly tested. They would have immediately found that the echo makes the phone useless and the sound volume barely acceptable. We have 2 (two) of these cases and feel they rushed to “drop” this product and email us when the product literally “dropped” from their production lines so as not to waste time testing them first. Bad business practice. They need to fix these problems ASAP, especially at $130. And I’d like a new belt clip that actually works and won’t break within one week of normal use. Mophie if you’re listening, please make right for your customers who support you and your products so we can continue to do so.

    • Matthias

Now I punched out the mic / loudspeaker membranes and do not dare to ever use my phone during rain, why could they not install decent membranes such as lifeproof has in their cases ?

      • Ian Cooper

Rain shouldn’t be a problem. The mic holes in the case lead upwards to the phone holes, so, unless the phone is being held upside down, any moisture is going to fall out before it gets into the phone.

I’ve taken every membrane and plastic screen off the case, and I wouldn’t be afraid of rain. Any water getting in the case will tend to be prevented from getting inside the actual phone by capillary action between the phone surfaces and those of the case.

        • Matthias

Thanks Ian, that’s somehow comforting, even that I find it scary how Mophie launched this product, I eould not sleep well thinking how my customers got cheated. and what bad planning of Mophie to send dissatisfied customers more cases as defective as the original ones …

  • Stefan

I have to agree Matthias. For this price I expect to buy a tested product. I hope Mophie follows this blog. I looked at the cases that you suggested and they all look great. I have also decided to use my case without the membranes, but that defeats the purpose for what I bought this case for. I don’t think there is any other way out at the moment. If they get a fix the right thing for them to do would be to recall and replace/repair the defective cases. Maybe we should send a link of this blog to the Mophie support site.

    • Matthias

Thanks Stefan, I just mailed them the link …
      Matthias

  • Stefan

Great, thanks. I was just going to do the same!

  • James Price

Just let everyone know, I had sent mine back about a week ago. Last Thursday I emailed their tech guy asking about my case and that there was a lot of people posting about the problems I had, bad audio, echo and my screen was scratches pretty. I received a response15 min later asking for a link which I gave them this site. Another 15 min go buy and I get an email stating my new cas was priority shipped to me and got it 2 days. The screen is clear but had. Ot tried the audio out y itself as I have been using Bluetooth a lot while working. Mophie has this web site. Log and I am sure they are reading and they will make good on fixing this case.

  • James Price

Well bad news, i gave the case a good work out by traveling to 3 different areas where my phone was not on the same site. First i called with out using a headphone or bluetooth and at all 3 sites complaints of the echo being worst then before. Switching over to the headphones or bluetooth and the echo problem went away. So Mophie you have a very real problem with the case design. Now the second problem, the holder for the case just does not snap the case in. I placed my case into the belt holder and felt that it was snug only to get in my car and heard a thump….my phone hitting the pavement. I am glad it was in the case to protect it but what if i was in a nosey area? i would have not heard it and lost the phone. Sorry Mophie but i think you need to recall or offer a recall of this case until the echo problem and a better case holder design can be achieved. Its a great power supply for the iPhone but with the two problems it looks like i will send mine back for a refund or exchange for a juice pack plus.

  • Kurt Webster

I purchased my Juice Pack Pro direct from Mophie two weeks ago. I opted for the overnight shipping and actually received it the next day. That was the extent of my satisfaction. After getting started with putting my iPhone inside the case, I noticed scratches on the screen. It then clicked that the round stickers that seal the out sleeve of the packaging to the inside were already cut But, in my excitement to get started, I really didn’t pay attention to it.

Well, I contacted Mophie and was advised to fill out their online form and the exchange process would start. I received a reply within an hour and to my dismay, they wanted me to pay for shipping back to them. I let them know quite clearly that I would not spend another $20 to send back something that I paid $130 for, then nearly $10 in tax and $26 in shipping. All told, I spent $165 to get my hands on the case for my camping trip that weekend. I received no further reply from customer service so I decided to send an email to the founders of the company, which included Daniel Huang the CEO and Ben Kaufman. I still have yet to receive any sort of response from anyone since.

So here I am, stuck with a product that was basically shipped to me as a refurb/open box unit. I finally started using it and I’m also having trouble with people being able to hear me. Not to mntn how much worse the screen is after less than 2 weeks of use. They may have great products, butt what good are they if the company doesn’t stand behind their product or their image.

    • Kurt Webster

I’m happy to say that after two weeks of no response from Mophie customer/technical support or Mophie executives, I finally received an email from Charles Mercadal, the Technical Support Manager. I had basically written off any idea that I was going to have my issue resolved in an acceptable fashion. I even started using the case, as I figured I was stuck with it and might as well get some use of the $160+ case.

It appears that Charles was heard about my review/complaint on Amazon. He offered to send me a replacement case if that would resolve the issue. Of course I said yes, as that’s all I wanted in the first place. I did however, advised Charles that I wanted to speak with him personally before procedding with the replacement.

I spoke with Charles the next day and actually had a very good conversation about what I mentioned in my original review and also the other issues with the case, such as the easily scratched integrated screen protector and the echo that the person on the other end of the phone hears, if they can hear you at all. I was advised that the issues with the microphone are currently being addressed. And, although the issue hasn’t yet been completely resolved, it should be soon. After which, the new parts will be shipped to those who have registered and/or contacted support about their Juice Pack Pro. Charles didn’t seem very familiar with the easily scratched screen protector problem. I filled him in on what I was experiencing with mine and how I had obviously only been using the case for less than 2 weeks and it looks like I have been using it for at least 6 months. He told me that he would bring this up to whomever it was that should know about this and assured me that it would be addressed after the microphone issue was fixed.

So, to sum it up, I’m getting a brand new, un-touched by human hands since manufacturing, scratch free Juice Pack Pro in replacement for the original one that was sent to me. I’m also on the list to received the updated replacement parts that are supposed to fix the microphone issue. And, I received a pre-paid shipping label for sending the old one back. I’d say Charles stepped up to the plate and righted the wrong.

Thanks again Charles. I’m now a satisfied customer.

      • Matthias

        Hi Kurt,

Great you took this initiative, I was already giving up, you encouraged me to again contact Mophie telling them that I do not need here in Germany a third replacement which does not work, just a working cover with the right membranes. In the meantime I also ordered the Aquatech S case letting the producers know not to repeat Mophie’s design flaw. I do really like Mophie’s products, i hope they get it right this time

      • Ian Cooper

I contacted customer support on June 21st. They told me to return the case, which I didn’t (for reasons I explained here). Haven’t heard anything from them since – don’t expect I’ll be getting a replacement. Don’t need one now anyway, since I did the work-around fix. Still, I’m in a very different mindset about Mophie than when I ordered the case. I think it would take a replacement that addressed all my concerns to put that right.

        • James Price

I agree with Ian and i forgot to remove the plastic cover for the camera lens on the back and when i took a night shot with the flash all the photos have flash flare that is bouncing off that plastic. So if you have one of these cases just remove all of the plastic coverings, pull the small membranes that cover the mic/speaker and you will have a great case that protects the phone, has the best battery pack which will charge a totally depleted iPhone 4s and still have on light left on the pack. This case is not water proof anyway so get rid of the plastic. Now, Mophie in a good faith should offer a price difference rebate as the case does not perform as stated.

  • Justin

I have had all of the same issues described here for a while. Im on my second one as well and Mophie has simply told me…

“We are aware of the issues with the Juice Pack Pro, and we have a fix on the way. We ask you to remain patient, and when we have the fix ready to be deployed we will inform you and help work with you to ensure
you are satisfied with the product.”

I hope this fix comes soon as the phone is useless for phone calls for now – and by “help work with you” I hope they mean shipping us out replacement cases free of charge.

Any of you that removed the membranes had luck with Mophie accepting a returned case even with the case being “modified?” Im temped to take mine out too but don’t want mophie to tell me they won’t accept the return because the case it modified.

  • Ian Cooper

    Hi Justin,

I think the folks at Mophie might be willing to tell you for sure if removing the membranes voids the warranty. No matter what other customers’ experiences are, if I was concerned about the warranty, I would want a letter or email from Mophie telling me it was okay before I did it.

As for me, I haven’t attempted to send back the case after modifying it. I decided before I removed the membranes that I wasn’t concerned with a Mophie fix or the Mophie warranty (because either way, it would involve me spending more money in postage etc.). I just wanted the damned thing to work as a phone and as a battery case, which it now does, without me sending Mophie or the Post Office any more cash.

I guess the membranes could accidentally come loose. The membranes are very insecurely attached – they could easily become dislodged without any effort to do so on your part. That might solve the problem for you and (maybe) still allow you to return the case. Of course, if the folks at Mophie were inflexible, they might not buy that excuse.

I tried contacting Mophie about it before I altered the product, but they were in full “We haven’t a clue what’s going on” mode at the time, which kinda soured me on the company. To be honest, I expected them to give me a free shipping label or something to show they were acting responsibly, but nothing like that was forthcoming. As a result, I’m not satisfied with Mophie and I will not buy another of their products before letting the market test it out for a few months. In fact, the experience has pushed me towards seeking out other companies – right now I’m hoping that the ‘Aqua Tek S’ fits the bill. Not only does it recharge the iPhone – it is fully waterproof and it has a solar recharger.

    • Matthias

And … The aqua tek s is supposed to be really waterproof, the Mophie juice pack pro you never should submerge, evev if it was working properly …

  • Steve

Any new updates on Mophie having a fix or updating the juice pack pro? Would like to order a new one if they fix the echo problem. Last I heard they would send emails to notify people that want one but nothing yet.

  • Ian Cooper

I haven’t heard anything from Mophie. I did check in on the Aqua Tek thing, and they seem to be delayed another month.

  • Kurt Webster

I sent an email to Charles the other day, letting him know that I received the replacement case. This case was in perfect condition when it arrived. Unfortunately, I have the same audio issues with this one. And, scratches are already showing up. Don’t get me wrong, I do like the case. It’s exactly what I was looking for. Charles indicated again, that as soon as the new parts are available, I will be receiving them. At this point, I am confident that Mophie will make things right.

On a side note, I have to say that the case is pretty sturdy. Depending on what I am doing and how formal the situation, I change cases often. I’ve not noticed any problems due to the adding/removing the case. I just saw a non-battery case that I think I will have to try as well. (just because it looks so sturdy and cool)

  • Matthias

Which other case did you see?

  • Kurt Webster

I saw the Lunatik Taktik on Kickstarter. I like rugged and bulky cases. This doesn’t look to be as bulky as the Jice Pack Pro. But, it definitely looks rugged.

  • Neil

Interesting thread. I am on my second unit. The first was two weeks old and they replaced it due to the screen scratching badly. Now I am about a month into the second unit.

This one now is in a pack to go back too. With the extra screen protector it made it almost impossible to get into the belt clip so gave up on the extra cover. The screen has got so badly marked that I can hardly see the screen.

I have been working on the London Olympics site for the last month, pretty dusty, dirty hands all day so thought this would be brilliant.

Last week the belt clip snapped!

I emailed Michael in support and filled the form, they told me to send it back. to where I wonder?

    Let’s see what happens now..

BTW, I did wonder why everyone kept telling me I had a terrible echo, they could hear themselves coming back all the time. Reading this, thanks guys, now I know…

    • Kurt Webster

Neil, I have got to ask, as I am having difficulty wrapping my “just woke up and haven’t had my coffee yet” brain around part of what you described. You’re referring to the standard, less than a millimeter thick screen protector; right? If so, how is that interfering with being able to put the phone in the belt clip? How are you putting this thing together? I am using the extra screen protector and it has no effect on the fully assembled size, width or depth of the case. I’ll admit that at first, it is a little stiff when putting the case into the belt clip, but for me, that has pretty much worked itself out and the case goes into the clip nicely now.

My second second question is about the scratching your’re experiencing. As you’ve read, we all seem to be having that same annoying issue, some worse than others. Now, I use my phone constantly throughout the day. I would say that given a good day, no more than 10 minutes goes by in between checking email, text, making notes, browsing the web for answers, etc… That said, it is in and out if the case constantly as well, which may contribute to my experience that I relayed in the above paragraph(s) about being able to get the case into the clip. Now, given all that I have said able, my screen does tend to get scratched. In my second post to this thread I had indicated that my first case, with regards to the scratching, looked like I had been using it for 6 months. My second one has faired better so far. Taking that into consideration, my scratched screen never prevented me from being able to see the screen. Based on the dusty/dirty environment you have described, are you not blowing/wiping the dust off the screen or giving your hands a quick dust off on your pants before sliding and tapping them on the screen?
Please don’t think I am trying to defend the quality of the integrated screen protector. It is too soft and scratches too easily. And please don’t think I am trying to make it sound like it’s your fault or that I am attacking you. I’m only trying to understand your experience as it relates to what I have experienced.
      Take care and good luck.

      • Neil

Hi. Yes the very thin sheet. With it the fitting to the belt clip is very tight. Without it it clicks in much better.

The original one was better, the replacement was matte and I think thicker. It’s only a fraction. Maybe enough to make it do tight the clip broke clean off

I have two issues with the glass protection. One is scratches. Like it’s way too soft. Should have been gorilla glass? But worse is it also has what can be described like a bloom. Its sort of cloudy.

Tried loads of soft cleaners, synthetic polishes and finally a much tougher one. But none touch it. My hands are never dirty or gritty. But dusty environment. Well till last night anyway. Now its just really noisy! Fun but noisy.

This is already my second unit.

Do now wait to see what they say.

  • Celso Fraga

    Hello everyone.

I bought the case in Orlando/Florida and i have the same problems, but i live no Brazil…

the screen is ridiculous and scratches with any touch.

    I think I’ll remove it…

mophie: How can you go wrong with so little?

friends, as it has been day to day? I mean the size case.

    Sorry my ingles.

    • Matthias

Guys, it’s in vain, let Mophie remember their obligations to faithful customers, send working replacement parts and do it better the next time

  • Celso Fraga

Make changes in case to correct the problems “that should never occur” should not lose the warranty. Worse than this is the silence of the manufacturer and the lost money so far from those who believed.

  • Neil

    Hi all,

I just got a message from Mophie (Michael Vargas) to say they are shipping me a new unit.

Thank you Mophie for your fast response.

    Neil

  • Stefan

    Hi Neil

I hope you get your issues resolved. I have also received a second unit from Mophie, but unfortunately it has exactly the same issues than the first. It does not seem that there was any attempt from Mophie to fix it. When I complained about this unit, I was told to send it back for a refund… I wonder if there is really a fix on the way?

  • Stefan

    Hey everyone!

Hope you’re all doing well. I just saw that Otterbox also decided to postpone the release of their new waterproof armor case as it was originally advertised. (http://www.otterbox.com/armor-series/armor-series,default,pg.html) I wonder if they ran into the same audio issue, or if they are postponing due to the rumours of a possible new iPhone being released soon. If there is a new iPhone to be released, it might also affect how much Mophie will invest into fixing the current problem. I would like to get your thoughts on this. Have a great weekend!

  • Steve

Received an email from Mophie on Aug 13 stating that the problems with the juice pack pro should be resolved within 1 to 2 weeks. We’ll see.

  • paula

any news with those problems ?

  • http://Neillasher.com Neil Lasher

So I am on case number three.
It’s been on about 10 days

No longer working in dusty environment, ride a motorcycle and the phone lives in the back box.

The echo? No idea nobody’s complained but then I think people have stopped calling me!!!

The scratches to the glass. No better, this one us getting slowly towards driving me crazy. This one leaks dust particles do I have had to take off the cover every week and blow out the bits.

I am not sure if Mophie read this or follow this thread. If you do guys then by now you should have done something. If you don’t then all I can say us you must be arrogant. But if course you wont read that.

Probably only a couple more weeks and I will throw this out and blog about it.

    • Sette Capati

      Hi Neil,

I sent an email to our contact person on Mophie CS to read your comments here.

      Best regards,

      Sette C

  • Celso

    I decided to:

removed the plastic shield that serves only to scratch

removed the speaker membrane (no echo)

    Now, the cover got better!

  • Steve

In an email Mophie says they will be sending out “fix kits” to those that have contacted them about “possible echo” . What do you suppose a fix kit could be? Can’t they just fix the case and stop selling it the way it is.

  • Steve

Mophie has mailed me a fix kit to fix echo. Will let ya all know.

  • neil lasher

    So the Saga continues.

The new case (3rd) arrives, I get charged $42 in tax and charges from Fed Ex as they sent it with a full value invoice as a replacement.

I sent one back, now I have paid tax on import twice! almost doubled the cost. And hell, it still echoes. It still has a screen that marks up at the slightest touch.

I asked them to pass my comments to their CEO, I got a reply back that said…

    Dear Neil Lasher,

We do not have any control over your governments taxes on imported goods.

    Thank you,

    Michael Vargas
    Technical support
    mophie

    Service with a smile…..

DONT BUY THIS PRODUCT, can I say that any louder?

DONT BUY ANYTHING THIS COMPANY MAKES, hear that?

THIS DOES NOT WORK, IT IS NOT RUGGED, read the thread very carefully……..

Mr CEO whoever you are, time to contact me and put this mess right.

I have over 3000 followers on Twitter and 1000+ business connections on LinedIn, time I started telling the world…

    • http://ianbrettcooper.blogspot.com Ian Cooper

They used to say that every good word a customer said about a product gained about three more sales, whereas every bad word lost about nine. Somehow, I think the age of the internet might have changed those numbers a bit. Now we can spread the word to thousands of people quite easily. The folks at Mophie are playing a very dangerous game by not treating this problem seriously.

      • Celso

        Truth. That incompetence!

        No respect whit the consumer.

        Celso
        Brazil

  • Matthias

Utterly dissapointing, unless I receive NOW a working replacement case, which is highly unlikely I will spread the word around my German friends who I once got hooked on the great Mophie products that the company turned incompetent, to say it friendly.
    Shame on you Mophie !

  • Justin

    ****UPDATE****

Just got home to see a big mophie box waiting at my door. What was inside was their fix-kit which contains a new designed screen, new redesigned rubber outer, and a new charge connector part.

    What I’ve noticed:

    1. The screen feels different and seems much less prone to scratches so far. It still clings to the iPhone glass in some areas but not nearly as bad as the last screen.

    2. Volume – HUGE improvment! I can actually hear the caller loud an clear now AND THEY CAN HEAR ME! Also, the bottom speakers volume is no longer cut in half… :)

    3. Echo is gone!!

    4. Also, they redesigned how the second mic (noise reduction) is routed through the rubber and it seems to actually work in terms of cleaning up noise for the person on the other end.

Overall, although I wasn’t impressed on how mophie communicated to their customers throughout the ordeal, it looks as if they finally worked things out.

Call mophie and tell them you want the fix kit!

    • Celso

      Hi Justin,

Can you post a pics about the changes?

      Thank you

  • Neil Lasher

I run a company too. Occasionally something goes wrong. I always get involved when it does and pick up the phone to start. Then put it right.

What I have is a reputation of 1st class service.

I posted this thread on twitter to #mophie

Maybe I will finally get contacted.

Why am I still holding out hope?

  • Celso

    FOLKS,

TODAY A SEND ONE E-MAIL TO MOPHIE (SORRY MY ENGLISH):

    *************************************************************************************

IN JULY 2012, I BOUGHT IN ORLANDO, ONE JUICE PACK PRO.

I HAVE THE FOLLOWING PROBLEMS (PUBLIC OWNER PROBLEMS):

    SCREEN SCRATCH VERY EASY.

    ECOS DURING THE CALLS.

    I NEED THE FIX-KIT

I LEAVE IN BRAZIL. SO, WHAT WILL YOU DO MOPHIE?

    THANKS,

    CELSO PAIVA

  • James Price

Celso, as you will see by many post here you have the same problems as we all have. Not sure if Mophie will have afix for it. It most of us have removed the screens from the front and also the back as you will find if you take a night shot the flash is reflected. Ack into the lens a d you will have this hazy look to the photo. Also remove the little me
Barnes from the ear piece and at the bottom for thee mic and speaker. Some will say it’s not water proof if you do that, it is not water proof to begin with, it’s just a super tuff case that gives you a lot of bartery back up and does that part great. Good luck, James

  • Celso

    Hi James,

I removed, one day after the purchase, the screen that only serves to scratch and membranes of the entries. I Use anyway, without the screen saver and without membranes. I’m happy, I have a nobreack lol. If there was a kit to fix, it would be nice, if it does not, I will continue using this same way.

I do not think I will answer, but the case was better without the membranes and that cheap protector Lol.

  • steffan

I just wrote to Mophie a couple of times looking for a warranty claim for the echo and screen. I didn’t expect much but I just received in the mail, an “echo kit” with upgraded screen, protective cover and voice ports. works great – very happy

  • Celso

    Folks,

Mophie dispatch the Fix kit for me to Brazil.

    Celso
    Brazil

  • Matthias

FINALLY, received the replacement kit and it works fine, aren’t we a bunch of fanatics who want the perfect thing for the iphone ? So, finally I am a happy customer of Mophie again, but I learnt to trust the US great product ads less, this is true for other companies as well.

    from Germany

    • Celso

      Matthias,

      Hi,

      Please,

Post a pics to the fix kit and the changes.

      Celso

  • Matthias

You won’t be able to see the change, but it works

  • Steffan

You Definately can see the changes: the screens are of a much finer material yet still pretty impervious to water (I held them under the faucet and no water came through). Also the upper microphone is now open with a mesh screen as well. They also added pads around the bottom speaker ports. So far it works great. The screen seems to be of an improved material but I will withould judgement until I have it longer. I have pictures but don’t know how to post them

    • Celso

      Steffan,

      Great!

      Congratulations

About Photos: host and you will receive the link of each pic.

I had a guy respond to me with some questions his name was

    David Hertz
    Customer advocate
    mophie

He said he was reaching out to me….

Since I replied I have heard nothing other than an advert for something else they are making.

In the meanwhile I picked up a PhoneSuite case. Now it’s not bad but not rugged. The Mophie is unusable due to the echo and scratches.

So some of you are lucky, who are you dealing with..

I have a company which prides itself on customer support, we are second to none. It’s the way you need to be these days. Mophie needs some training in how keep existing clients.

i suppose we are being trashed till the iphone 5 hits tomorrow. Then they will release something for that and we will be dust!

I have asked for my mails to be forwarded to the CEO, so far silence.

  • Celso

The biggest problem with this case, was the total lack of testing.

Absurd error to a current company!

who? I repeat, who authorized the sale of these cases without testing?

    should have been fired,

    I think …

  • Celso

Today, with globalisation, i believe the Mophie should not manufacture anything. Another company manufactures. The Mophie makes the project or purchase ready.

the question is which authorized the supply and placed in stores.

    incredible not?

    Lol

  • http://ianbrettcooper.blogspot.com Ian Cooper

You know, the cynic in me has a sneaking suspicion that the folks at Mophie got wind of the iPhone 5 and decided to get their unfinished Juice Pack Pro out as-is before it was finished. They must have spent a bundle on the development and they were probably looking at a big loss if they didn’t get the product out well before iPhone 5 came on the market.

As soon as I heard about the iPhone 5, it was like an ‘Aha!’ moment. The more I think about it, the more it makes sense. After all, Mophie usually releases really good products. Releasing a lemon this bad doesn’t make sense unless there was a real reason to do it.

  • Celso

    look at the Mophie’s tweeter:

I can imagine the reason of our problems LOL:

    About the pic in twitter:

    Lacked seriousness in the process?

  • Celso

My Fix Kit arrived. The polycarbonate seems to be of better quality. There have been some changes for the better. Now I’m with a Mophie hands.

  • Steffan

I’ve had my upgraded case for almost two weeks now: love it – everything I had wanted the first time I purchased it: good sound quality, well made and the screen protector is every bit as good as the otter box. Very satisfied with the new design

  • Orlando

    Hi !

I want to buy one of this Mophie Juice Pack Pro, but I´m worry about the eco problem.

Any of you know if Mphie solve this issue ? or the cases still have the problem and I´m going to have to wait for the “Fix Kit”

    Thanks !

  • Stefan

The problem was fixed with the kit. Just make sure that you get one with the new design. I really enjoy my case and I hope Mophie will consider one for the iPhone 5.

I see on reviews that Lifeproof now has the same problem with echoing on their iPhone 5 case. Are these cases not tested before they are sold???
