Some of us don’t use the Spotlight search area in our iOS devices. There are some tweaks which bring something new to Spotlight search while others disable it completely. However, SpotLock is the first Cydia app that disables Spotlight and also adds new functionality to it. With this jailbreak app, you can lock your iPhone by swiping over the place where Spotlight search is normally located. The native iDevice unlocking is hardware designed, but this new tweak brings a software alternative. Yes! It does eliminate Spotlight search completely, but come to think of it, many of us don?t use it completely.
The quickest way at the moment to secure the iPhone regarding software use is to tap the sleep button at the top quickly. SpotLock offers something new. It?s available at Cydia?s BigBoss repo and is a free of cost download. Once downloaded, the Spotlight search will be disabled immediately. The stock Settings app remains the same as there are no new options added. Apart from that, no new icons are added to the Springboard as well. After the tweak has been installed, just go to the first page of the Springboard, and make a left swipe of the screen. You?ll notice the iDevice gets locked automatically. To unlock it, you can use the native slide-to-unlock method.
Those of use the Spotlight search area on their iPhone should definitely stay away from this jailbreak tweak, and those who don?t should give it a try as it brings somewhat a new concept.
