While I love my iPhone, I have no qualms in accepting that I hate the charging cable that comes with it. For a start, I’ve replaced it thrice in the last one year as it got damaged and stopped working. Secondly, I find it a hassle to use it with separate docks. Therefore, I’ve always longed for a cable which could double up as a stand and a dock – and more importantly, is flexible so that I can contour it any form without damaging it. I recently came across Une Bobine – a flexible charging cable cum stand which is just what I’ve been looking for.
In literal sense, Une Bobine means ‘coil’ in French. It’s a flexible cable that lets you keep you iPhone in any position you want – be it at home, at the office and in the car. The best part – it doubles up as a stand for your iPhone. To use it, simply stick it on the dock and bend the cable as needed. So, you can use it to charge your iPhone, sync it with your computer or Mac and use it as a docking station or tripod when needed. It would also come in handy for your Facetime calls.

The secret behind Une Bobine is the metal gooseneck material that allows it to be flexible and yet still strong enough to hold the weight of an iPhone. Une Bobine originated as a Kickstarter project (no surprises there!) and it’s already well past its original funding goal of $9,800. Designed by Jon Fawcett from Akron, Ohio, Une Bobine is shaping up to be one of the most successful Kickstarter iPhone accessories ever. Une Bobine is very reasonably priced and you can pre-order one for $25. If you buy two Une Bobine cables, you get them for $40 ($15 discount).
