Recently, YouTube user Daniel Chase Hooper created a concept video that demonstrated how editing text on an iPad could be easier. This was quickly followed by the jailbreak community releasing an iPad tweak – SwipeSelection based on that concept.
iDownloadBlog in a video rundown of the SwipeSelection tweak, developed by Kyle Howells allows you to drag your finger across the iOS keyboard to move the cursor between letters. Tap and hold shift while you drag to select chunks of text.
All about SwipeSelection Tweak
SwipeSelection tweak makes editing text on the iPad seamless by allowing you to drag your fingers to move the cursor; and by adding the ability to select text by holding the shift key. Here you can either use one finger for a more precise cursor drag or two fingers to move faster.
All in all, the jailbreak tweak is nonetheless a brilliant, stable and well implemented tweak. And the best part is that besides the iPad it even works on the iPhone, although using the shift key is more cumbersome because the iOS keyboard is smaller.
SwipeSelection tweak for iPad and iPhone is now available free for download at the Cydia store; and fully supports any jailbroken iOS device running iOS 5.0 and higher. The Apple community is highly optimistic that Apple might surely integrate it into the next iOS version and have even begun garnering user support to influence Apple Inc.
What is your opinion about the SwipeSelection tweak? Do you think Apple will integrate the seamless text editing concept promoted by the tweak in the next iOS version?
