AlwaysArrange Tweak: Move Icons Without Long-Pressing Them

Icon arrangement, whether it be on your desktop or smartphone, is a tough job. On a jailbroken iDevice, there are some packages available at the Cydia Store that automates certain processes. Usually, to re-arrange icons on the homescreen (Springboard), you have to long-press the icon until it gets into wiggle mode and then place it at the desired location. However, a new Cydia tweak that goes by the name of AlwaysArrange lets you arrange and move icons without having the need to make them wiggle.

When you install the tweak, no additional icons would appear on the home screen but it does include a preferences panel that?s located in the Settings app on the device. The tweak can be toggled on or off through the Settings and there?s also an option to specify the time frame for an icon to be depressed before the user decides to move it. There is a slider in the settings that has a range from 0.1 to 1.0. This is used to specify the time in seconds that the icon is held down for.

If you set the duration close to 0, you can move any app icon within a second. While if you want to slightly delay the time before the app can be moved, you need to add it to a higher number. Since the normal way won?t allow you to enter edit/wiggle mode, dragging any app icon into the status bar will place the device into wiggle mode instead.

Though it doesn?t offer anything extraordinary to fall into the essential tweak list, it is very useful. The best thing is that it comes for free. You can find it in the popular ModMyi repo and there are no specific iOS requirements mentioned for it.

Let us know if you try it out!
