Here’s an update on the latest development of iOS 5.1 untethered jailbreak.
We have been waiting for iOS 5.1 untethered jailbreak release. Finally, the iOS researcher pod2g did it again. He tweeted few hours ago that he successfully jailbreak his iPhone 4 with iOS 5.1 untethered jailbreak.
This is good news to end the weekend.

All eyes are glued to the jailbreak developers? progress in the quest of exploits and what-not, so everybody will be happy and satisfied. This is a good news for iPhone 4S and iPad 2 owners. Obviously, developers are getting closer to light at the end of the tunnel.
Pod2g announced his latest exploit via Twitter update, confirming that he successfully jailbreak his iPhone 4 running in iOS 5.1 untethered jailbreak. Currently, we are in the initial stage on iOS 5.1 untethered testing. Considering that pod2g mentioned that it was the iPhone 4, powered by A4 chip that has tethered jailbreak.
The released date of iOS 5.1 untethered jailbreak is not yet available. Although, the progress gives us a bit of encouragement, at least we know that pod2g is working actively in the testing phase ? that would probably take him quite a long time.
This initial testing carries the same phase of iOS 5.0.1 untethered jailbreak, which took weeks before its final release in December/January for all devices.
Considering the time they have to spend in A5 and A5x chips for exploits, basically it will take much longer knowing that these devices were completely changed internals, and developers fall short on boot-rom level exploit.
Tickling our ears with excitement, Posixninja of Chronic Deve team clarified that this jailbreak would be one of a kind ? a jailbreak that would operate more exploits than any other jailbreak ever released.
Official date of its release is unknown. However, we will update you as soon as possible.
