The Apple iPhone has changed my daily schedule in several ways. Whether it’s reading the morning newspaper, a quick workout in the gym or watching my favorite TV shows on the Internet, my prized possession – an iPhone 4S is now an integral part of my daily life. So much so, that I often think about it even in my dreams. And just in case you’re pondering, a new app Dream:ON can even influence your dreams.
When I first read about Dream:ON, it appeared too good to be true. Developed by Prof. Richard Wiseman, who teamed up with software company YUZA, Dream:ON monitors your behavior during sleep and plays specific “soundscapes” as you dream. The idea is that you put your iPhone at the bed close to your head before you sleep so that Dream:On starts monitoring your dream patterns. The app also features an alarm along with accompanying ringtones which are played at a pre-defined time.
There are all sorts of innovative apps on the Apple Store but to come up with an idea to influence a human’s dreams – brilliant concept! The app is beautifully crafted with a clever of images to stimulate the user’s mind.
I love the way the various options as brainwaves on a human mind. Once you click on ‘Start Dreaming’, the app does the real magical stuff – it detects when you are asleep and then plays the appropriate soundscape effect.
You can actually buy soundscapes for various kinds of dreams though the ‘Dream Store’. The app provides two soundscapes for free.
The app lets you maintain a date-wise Dream Diary as shown below.
You can drill down into any specific item in the Dream Diary to view details as shown below.
The best part about Dream:ON – it features a dynamic monitoring and optimisation engine ? which changes based on your feedback, so you will need to remember to record your dreams and experiences.

If you often crib for a perfect night’s sleep with sweet dreams, I recommend you try out Dream:ON! After all, it’s free and sounds like a fascinating proposition!
