Here’s Why iPhone 4 Would Never Get Siri Officially


The jailbreak community has been working to bring Siri to the iPhone 4 ever since the digital voice assistant was introduced with the release of iPhone 4S. We have seen many Siri hacks for the purpose, but none of them offer the smooth functionality as the official Siri for iPhone 4S.

The fruit company has some explanation beyond ‘To differentiate iPhone 4S’ for not bringing Siri to older iOS devices. According to a report by CNET, the A5 processor of the iPhone 4S is bulky because it contains a noise reduction chip. What does that mean? Many of you might not know that Apple started a partnership with Audience in January to integrate the noise-reduction technology in the 4S. This is the reason for the added size as the companies “Ear smart” noise reduction chip is integrated directly into the A5 processor. This chip enhances the primary voice signal and isolates the background noises effectively.

The new technology has focused on far-field speech. The technology detects the voice commands when it’s far from your mouth. For example, the TV is far away from you; you can ask Siri to change channels.

When we talk about iPhone 4, its chip is also provided by Audience, but the technology is only good when the handset is help close to the mouth, which is different and less effective than the far-fetched Ear Smart technology of the iPhone 4.

Now you know the reason why Siri is so smooth on the iPhone 4S and not on the iPhone 4. It simply can’t work well. ‘Audience’ that its new technology was introduced one month later after the arrival of the iPhone 4.

One interesting thing to keep the Apple fans excited. The company has hinted for a 3G noise-reduction technology, and the fruit company has a license. Could we see a new Siri version on iPad 3 and iPhone 5? Only time will tell!
