Apple Seeds iOS 5.1 Beta 3 To Developers: Re-Enables 3G Toggle Feature And Hints At Siri For iPad 3

The fruit company is in action once again. Apple has lately seeded iOS 5.1 beta 3 to the developers. The new beta is available at over-the-air updates, and those enrolled as members in the developer’s center can get access to the new beta release.

The beta is a pre-released version for the iPhone, iPod touch and the iPad. Though it looks ordinary, there are some folks that have revealed the new feature added to the latest iOS 5.1 beta 3.

The old iOS users may already have the skill to toggle on and off 3G data on the iPhone. However, the latest iOS beta release have the feature a part of the iOS family. This feature was not present in the previous versions. The new feature can be found in Settings > Network tab. This feature gives you the ability to toggle on and off 3G data connection on the iPhone manually.

@funguyom noticed the new feature added to the iOS 5.1 beta 3. The fruit company had remained quite pm why the ability to turn on and off the 3G data connection was removed from the recent iOS released but after this discovery, we might get it back when the new beta is released publicly.

Apart from this, 9to5mac’s tipster Sonny Dickson found a new section in the keyboard menu called “About Privacy and Dictation” while looking through the iOS 5.1 beta 3 settings application on an iPad. The iPad provides the standard legal literature and feature information for Siri Dictation to the user as seen in the image below:

Perhaps this is going to be an iOS 5.1 launch feature for the iPad, or may also be an iPad 3-exclusive feature as the dictation is not functional on an iPad 2 running iOS 5.1 beta 3. The feature is a similar process to the iPhone 4S exclusively gaining Siri and Siri Dictation support in iOS 5.0. There have been rumors about the link/document appearing on the retina of iPod touches too.

Apple doesn’t have a menu specifically related to “Dictation and Privacy” on the iPhone 4S in the keyboard settings panel. The literature is exclusive for the Siri preferences under general settings that include both Siri and Dictation. The concern that the iPad Dictation menu is a simple carried over code from the iPhone 4S is weakened as a result. However, it is just speculation that iPad’s Siri support would be limited to Siri Dictation.

Developers can download iOS 5.1 beta 3 from here.

We will keep you informed as soon as we hear anything. Stay tuned!
