UISettings has been upgraded to work as a widget in iOS 5 notification center. Created by a 14 year old student, UISettings might be the first jailbreak tweak for iOS 5 released only a day after a tethered jailbreak solution for iOS 5 beta became available.
Installing UISettings requires a jailbroken iOS device running iOS 5.0 beta 1 firmware. Once installed, it gives you the same set of quick toggles inside Notifications Center and works just like the Stocks and weather widgets.
There are nine toggles present in UISettings at present:
- Safe Mode
- Power Off
All of these features work on iOS 5 beta except for the Safe Mode option. The latest update to the UISettings Beta has improved the usability. You just need to tap on the buttons now instead of tapping and holding it for a few seconds.
The ON/OFF toggles turn Red or Green depending on their state when you tap on them. Features like brightness and volume bring up a slider with a done button.
Just like SBSettings this can be accessed from inside any app without quitting by just sliding down on iPhone screen. Right now there’s no way to select which toggles you want to display. However, you can turn UISettings ON or OFF from Settings > Notifications.
If you don’t really like the bright colors don’t worry you’ll have some very beautiful themes coming soon. iRetina++ is about to be released in a day’s time. Here’s a sneak peak at the upcoming iRetina++ UISettings theme.
I definitely like the iRetina++ theme much better than the stock theme in UISettings. This feels more iOS-ish than those rainbow colors.
If you have iOS 5 installed and jailbroken you can try UISettings for yourself. Just add the repo http://qwertoruiop.com/beta in Cydia and then look for UISettings to install it.
