UnFolder is a brand new free Cydia tweak for iOS devices, that does exactly what its name suggests. It will pour out all the applications inside it and then delete the folder. You are of course not going to use this every day, but you might find it very handy the day you sit down to rearrange your iOS apps.
Currently, you need to manually drag each app out of the Folder one by one if you want to get rid of the folder. Unfolder, which has been created by @FilippoBiga, same guy who made another popular jailbreak utility called Slideaway, will be available to us as a free and open source hack.
I would have really liked this tweak even more if there was an option to delete the apps too instead of just deleting the folder. There’s a video demo of UnFolder included after the break.
We do not know what all Apple may have up its sleeve with the upcoming iOS 5 release, but we are definitely hoping to see some enhanced folder management and notifications in iOS 5.
Getting back to UnFolder, deleting a folder is as simple as deleting an app itself. Just put the icons into the jiggle mode and after installing UnFolder you’ll see a cross over every folder just like every app. As soon as you hit the cross button you’ll see a popup message confirming the delete operation like the one below.

Once you hit delete, all the contents of the folder that is the various iPhone applications, will be placed on the nearest empty space on the springboard. Usually it will be the same page or next page of your springboard depending on number of apps.
The people at ModMyI have also created a video demo of UnFolder.
How to Install UnFolder:
Since this is a Cydia application you will need a jailbroken iOS device obviously. Just launch Cydia and head over to the search tab and type unfolder. If you don’t see it already you might need to refresh your sources using the Changes tab.

You don’t need to add any extra repo. UnFolder is available via the ModMyI Repo. Just hit the Install button at the top and then restart your springboard after install to get UnFolder to work.
The tweak seems to work fine with all kind of applications be it bookmarks, app store applications or cydia applications.
Do you think you are going to find this free tweak any useful? Personally, I am just waiting for a future release that allows deleting the apps inside the folder too.
