If you’re a Mac user and waiting for the Mac version of Limera1n, here is the good news! Today, GeoHot releases the limera1n jailbreak tool for Mac platform.
If this is the first time you heard about Limera1n, it is a bootrom-level jailbreak that works on the iPhone 3GS, iPhone4, iPod touch 3G, iPod touch 4G, the iPad, and (technically) the AppleTV 2G.
Before you jailbreak the iPhone on your Mac, please take note and read through the following points carefully:
- Limera1n is not an unlock tool. It’s just for jailbreaking only. If you rely on ultrasn0w to unlock your iPhone, please DO NOT upgrade to iOS 4.1. The iPhone Dev team will release the PwnageTool jailbreak tool on Sunday that will be able to let you upgrade to 4.1 and preserve the baseband.
- Limera1n works on iPhone 3GS, iPhone4, iPod touch 3G and iPod touch 4G running on iOS 4.1. It also works on the iPad running on iOS 3.2.2. For iPhone 3G, please use redsn0w to jailbreak.
- It’s an untethered jailbreak. Thanks to @comex, who provides the untethered aspect of limera1n.
- It does not support beta version of iOS.
To download limera1n for Mac, you can go to limera1n.com and click the Mac icon. For jailbreak procedures using limera1n, you can further check out our jailbreak guide. The guide is written based on the Windows version of limera1n but it should also work for Mac.
