Bing for iPhone Updated With Bookmark, Search History and Copy & Paste

by Simon Ng on March 23, 2010

Last Friday, Microsoft released a new version of Bing application for iPhone. The new app is packed with lots of new features and bug fixes.

Since the first release of Bing app on iPhone in mid-December, as claimed by Microsoft, there have been over a million downloads of the Bing app for iPhone so far. With the new release, the application adds a number of significant enhancements to streamline the search experience:

  • Added bookmarks – you can bookmark maps, directions, websites, search terms or even a weather report.
  • Sharing – share search result with others via e-mail.
  • Copy and paste URLs – finally, Bing! app lets you copy and paste URLs.
  • Parental control – you can set a SafeSearch level. This feature is specially designed for parents to block their kids from accessing unappropriate sites on the device.
  • Search history and private search – the app now saves your search history but in case you don’t need it, you can also use the private search option without saving your history.
  • Explicit location setting – set a specific location so you can get location specific search result.

Other the enhancements, the Bing! app comes with a number of stability fixes and usability tweaks, as well as, performance improvement. The app can now also run on all models of iPhone and iPod touch.

However, at the mean time, Microsoft only releases the Bing! app to U.S. App Store. If you are in U.S. or have a U.S. account, you can download this free app via this direct iTunes link. For other countries, Microsoft does not mention about the release date and probably you will need to wait for a while.

What do you think about the Bing app? Do you prefer the Google mobile app or Bing? As always, leave us comment and share your thought.

This feature would be quite helpful for Bing Users on Iphone. Many users use Safari though.
