As reported by IGN, Capcom has announced Street Fighter IV for iPhone and targets to release it in coming March. With no physical buttons on iPhone, Capcom has spent months to customize the game to best fit the touch screen interface.
It’s expected the game is a stripped-down version due to limited processing power of iPhone. But as you’ll see from the sample screenshots, Capcom tries to retain the quality with minimal loss of details and color. Like other iPhone games, Street Fighter IV employs a virtual pad and move buttons to control the fighters. Same as other hardcore gamers, you may concern about the performance of the virtual pad whether it can deliver precise control over the character. Without any hands-on, I’m not too sure how great the virtual pad works to master the game. But as IGN claimed, Capcom already comes up with a number of features to make sure you can master the game with the virtual control:
Capcom offers a number of control configurations so players can find their favorite position, button transparency, and set-up. Street Fighter IV also includes a Dojo Mode for training, giving you ample opportunity to get used to the controls before heading into a tournament or into a multiplayer match.
So, how about the support of multi-player? Capcom allows two players to link up via bluetooth to play the game together. Also, what about the roster? As it’s a stripped-down version, don’t expect you’ll see all the fighters as that on the game console. But as Capcom mentioned, the fan-favorite fighters, Ryu and Ken, are promised to come with the game.
The announcement of Street Fighter for iPhone brought me back to my good old days as a student. At that time, Street Fighter is my favorite game. I don’t remember how many hours I spent at game center or in front of game console just for this game. Looking forward to its debut on iPhone in March. Stay tuned. I will keep you posted when the game is released and how it works.

What do you think about Street Fighter for iPhone? Is it too complex to play this kind of game using the touch interface? Feel free to leave us comment and share your thought.
