The “Use Your Handwriting” app comes in two versions: a free version and a gold version, which costs $1.99. This app is another “To-Do” type app, but this one has a unique twist to it. You use your index finger to do all the writing. No typing involved.
While there is no shortage of To-Do application in App Store, Use Your Handwriting lets you jot down the To-Do items and organize them in a fun and intuitive way. Forget about the virtual keyboard. When there is any To-Do item to jot down, just launch the app and write down on the touch screen. You don’t need to worry about the screen size that limits the length of your writing. The app is well-designed to accommodate lengthy text. When you nearly fill the whole screen with your writing, the app automatically slide to a new page leaving you more room to write.

There are some other very cool features this app offers. Mostly, everything you want to do is done via finger gestures. You can highlight a “to-do” item by simply tapping on the item, then it will start to blink to indicate it’s crucial. You can check an item as complete by swiping your index finger across the item, the item will have a little check marked on it indicating it is complete. Tap on it again and it is unchecked. If you swipe an item that is checked, the app deletes the item.

You can edit an item by clicking on the “edit” button and use a playback feature that allows you to stop and start wherever you like to make changes. Also, you can color code you items along the bottom by simply tapping on the color you want a particular item to be.
The free version offers you five different-colored item list. You can simply shake your iPhone to switch between these lists.
I could not believe how quickly I got the hang of this app. I definitely love the simplicity of this app. Typically my “to-dos” are spur of the moment things that I want to write down quickly and don’t need a lot of detail. This app is perfect for that. Writing with your finger is very easy and quick. This is exactly how I like my “to-do” app to operate.
The Gold version of this application allows you to create list hierarchies of your color-coded lists. You can email your lists to yourself to use as remainder memos. You can turn items in a sub-list and sub-sub-lists. You can send handwritten emails to your friends or family and add visual enhancements to your lists.
Some of the upcoming features that will be available for an updated version is: space optimization; a backup and restore feature in case you delete an note by mistake with a mistaken hand gesture; cut and paste from one list to another; and the ability to send emails in a white background.
I really loved this app. I can envision using this quite a lot to help me organize my to-do items. Like me, if you just want a very simply To-Do app, I encourage you to give Use Your Handwriting a try. You will not be disappointed and I think you’ll find that it be just the type of “to-do” app you have been looking for.
