If you miss out last year’s iPhone development course provided by Stanford University, here is your second chance. This year, Stanford University continues to offer its popular iPhone development course to general public via iTunes U.
The iPhone development course offered by the University is a 10-week computer science class that teaches student how to develop iPhone app. Same as last year, the class is taught by two Apple engineers: Alan Cannistraro and Josh Shaffer. To let anyone who are interested in learning iPhone programming, the lecture video is put onto Stanford’s iTunes U for free download. The lecture video will be available after each class meeting. Other than the video, the course presentation and handouts are also freely available for download. The lecture materials that you can access publicly are exactly the same as that are available to the students. Anyone can learn iPhone programming together with Stanford’s students. But of course, your assignment will not be graded and you’ll not gain any college credits even complete all the materials. That’s just limited to Stanford students only.
The course covers most aspects about iPhone application development including Objective-C, Cocoa-Touch, iPhone SDK, etc. And for this year, the course is updated to cover iPhone OS 3.1, the latest operating system for the iPhone and iPod touch.
The 1st lecture has been kicked off on January 5 and Stanford has already put up the lecture videos for both lecture 1 & 2. On top of that, you’ll find the lecture notes and assignments. For whatever reason you miss last year’s lecture video, let’s get started. Go ahead to download the lecture videos and kick off the study! I’m sure it’ll be fun to develop your own iPhone app.
If you’re interested in the course, you can further check out the course website for presentation slides and download the lecture video from Stanford’s iTunes U.
