Kayak is a travel search site that helps people find the best travel choices by searching the data from hundreds of travel sites. Kayak provides you options, based on your travel preferences, of where you want to book your hotel, rental car and airline. Then, you can book it from the agent of your choice.
The iPhone version of Kayak allows you to search for flights, hotels, cars, trips and the “Buzz” (what is hot). You can provide feedback to Kayak based on a 1-5 scale and elaborate with comments. Under the preferences tab you can create your Kayak account and set your preferred currency. Also, you can manage your “trips”.
There is a “help” tab that provides some basic help and a link to their iPhone support page. Also, the Kayak app has an “airlines” tab, which provides info on just about every airline available including the phone number and website.
One useful function I noticed with this app is that when I start searching for an airline ticket to, say, Baltimore for January 2, the same location and date carries over to both the hotels and cars tab until I choose another location or date. Very handy not having to re-type that info.
Two of the airline booking sites I found that Kayak used were Orbitz and CheapTickets.com, but of course you can simply book it with the airlines now that you have all the info if you don’t wish to use the online sites. From what I saw all of the major rental car agencies is part of the database but you can also select and de-select agencies that you either want or don’t want searched.

The hotel function allows you to either search all available or those that are close, cheap or classy. Moreover, you can further define your search by price, stars and chains.
What is missing from this app and will hopefully be included in updates is the “deals”, “vacations” and “cruises” tabs that are available on the online site kayak.com. This app is pretty handy and you can easily use it to book a trip. You can also get recent great deals via the Buzz feature.

So, if you’re planning for your next trip, this app will make the flight and hotel search fairly easy. The best is you can do it anywhere, anytime on your iPhone. I would recommend giving Kayak a try [iTunes link]. I think you’ll find your experience with them very good and become a regular user.
