As reported by Financial Times today, Apple will host a special event in late January at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco and is rumored to announce something extraordinary – The Apple Tablet.
Speculated as a scale-up version of iPhone with multi-touch capability and larger screen size, as well as, higher resolution display, the Apple Tablet got much attention and we have been heard of rumors about its release for months.
So, is this another rumor? We do not know the answer. However, as mentioned by news and technology blogs, it seems it’s quite likely for Apple to announce the product next month.
Folks at Business Insider have given some solid hints on that:
Apple has been telling some app makers to prepare apps for a demo next month, according to this source. “They’ve told select developers that as long as they build their apps to support full screen resolution — rather than a fixed 320×480 — their apps should run just fine,” our source says.
And, Boy Genius Report also reported about the screen size of the tablet:
Our connect said there is 100% a 7″ Apple tablet, to be announced in January, and whether this is in addition to a 10″ model, they don’t know.
Further, Piper Jaffray, analyst of Gene Munster also mentioned in his research note that the event is imminent and it’s quite likely we’ll see the launch of the Apple Tablet:
“We believe there is a 75 per cent likelihood that Apple will have an event in January and a 50 per cent chance that it will be held to launch the Apple Tablet,” he wrote in a new research note. “If Apple announced the Tablet in January, it would likely ship later in the March quarter.”
The Apple Tablet has been a hot topic for months. Every time Apple holds an event, we expect it will debut the tablet device. But, as you know, it’s still a yet-to-be-announced device.
As an iPhone and gadget lover, the Tablet is certainly the top gadget on my list in 2010 if Apple is going to announce it next month. I already start saving money for that. It will not be cheap but definitely it’ll be very cool. Stay tuned. I will keep you update on that.

It is a logic step for Apple to release such device. The iPhone has been a great platform to develop and refine new technologies. And now Apple will just combine the MacBook and the iPhone touch screen together and voila!
But for being a Apple users for over 15 years, and looking at Apple history of radical new product release, i would not jump on the first model. Unless you have money to spend for fun. Every first release of a completely new product is followed quite closely with a much better one with lots of improvement. So i would hold on befor e jumping on it unless you like to show off by being one of the first to own such product.
As much as i love Apple product, Apple is still a capitalist business that needs to satisfy share holders and pay the R&D cost. So like many other companies, early release helps to bring in cash flow. As well as using the feed back from public users to improve the next release.
Never the less it will be an awesome computer. i can only imagine when the Apple “Tablet” will meet the MacBook Air. It is going to be insane !!!!!
And Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all iPhone lovers !!!!
Merry Christmas!!!
I can’t wait for January!
