Google has announced an update of its Google Mobile app for iPhone with the support of additional languages and improved user interface.
We have first covered Google Mobile with voice search in Nov, 2008. The new version comes with a better interface for displaying search result and a built-in browser to open the result within Google Mobile. This little change greatly improves the user experience of the app. If you have used the previous version, you know, Google App launches Safari every time you open the result.
With a “bells and whistles” screen, you are also allowed to customize the look & feel of Google Mobile such as changing theme color and sounds. For those using a faster iPhone (i.e. iPhone 3GS), try to enable the “Live Waveform” feature that adds a visual waveform when using voice search.

More importantly, the latest version of Google Mobile adds the support of multiple spoken languages. You can now speak to Google in both Mandarin and Japanese. On top of that, Google Mobile supports four different inflections of English (U.S., U.K., India, and Australia), as well.

According to the official release note from Google, here are the complete list of features come with the new version:
- Search results now open inside application
- Support for user inside China
- Improved search bar interface
- Adds support for choosing spoken language for searching by voice
- Exposes easter egg options for all
- Increased size of search history list
Google Mobile app is available at App Store and completely free. It supports all models of iPhone and iPod touch running OS 2.0 or later. You can click this direct iTunes link to download or upgrade it. Also, remember to write back to share your thought or experience about the application.
