Hello Simon,

I have a 3GS pre week 40 32 GB. Had 3.1 firmware installed on it. Blackra1n’ed the phone several weeks ago. Things were good. Last night had 2 glasses of wine and set a passcode on it. I entered the passcode today to unlock and it didn’t. I have been troubleshooting it and decided that a restore will have to occur since I could not see my root dir in iphonebrowser to remove a password since i didnt have access to install the af2 service (for iphonebrowser to see the root with blackra1n installed)

I decided then to install redsn0w and downloaded the 3.1.2 firmware (non custom) since redsn0w wouldn’t accept a 3.1 firmware ipsw file

It applied the jailbreak and everything looked like it was working rebooted and then it asks for a password again and had my existing wallpaper up. Where can I go from here? I am downloading a custom 3.1.2 firmware and maybe try redsn0w with that?

Really do not want to upgrade to 3.1.3 with Itunes

hello simon i really need help

i jailbroke my ipod 1st gen running 3.1.2 on vista and it ran perfectly and when i installed cydia it downloading, unpacking, instaling and respringing and after that there was no cydia, i rebooted my ipod but still no cydia….

pls pls pls help me

Hi you can download firmware 3.1.2 from the dev team website or just google it. Then when you want to restore in itunes, hold the left shift button down whilst clicking on restore, it will show you your computer files and just open the firmware you have downloaded.

Hi.
I downloaded and installed Blackra1n no problems. Went to the icon and tried to instal cydia but kept getting a network error message so i though i’d try and uninstall blackra1n from the iphone and start again. Now it wont go back on my phone, i have downloaded 3.1.2 firmware and restored the phone using this. This gives me cydia. I tried installing blackra1n again but still no icon on my phone. I tried unlocking the phone usiing ultrasn0w now i have no signal and all of the advice i have seen does not work. Please help.

I just want to re-instal blackra1n….simple??? well it isn’t ive tried loads of times now.

hey guys …i was jailbreakin y iphone using this tool and it stucked in middle while running blackra1n …..only cable connection is showing in iphone screen ….niether iphone shuts down nor my pc recognizes it …..so wht can i do ?…plz help me out …..

Hi, I just got an iphone 3g. it’s giving me an error (1015) whenever I try to restore, so I went straight to the blackrain. my iphone 3g is at 3.1.2 and its jailbroken. however i cannot tell if it is unlocked. I am at t-mobile and all my calls that i try to make are ending in “call failed”/”cancelled” help please?

my i phone 3gs running on software version 3.0 and i tried to restore it to 3.1.2 as described in the tutorial above. while the restoring process going on a message displayed on my computer screen-”the iphone cannot be restored at this time because the iphone software update server could not be contracted or is temporarily unavailable.” plz inform me the solution how can i restore my iphone 3gs version 3.0 to 3.1.2.
[The same procedure i applied on my iphone 3g and it worked without any pboblems.]

What is possible to do with the problem regarding not beeing able to restatrt the Iphone without going in to “update mode” (the screen showing USB cable an Itunes logo).
At this this I have to use Blackrain to open the Iphone – and that is not good if on a trip etc, and not having a pc avaiable.

Simon, thanks for the great resource.

I have a 3GS with v3.1.3 (which I use every day) and a 3G with v3.1.2 (which has just the default iphone data). I want to jailbreak and unlock the 3G, and use itunes “restore” to get my data onto the phone. But I’m concerned that by doing so, iTunes may load 3.1.3, which would lose the jailbreak.

Is there any way to restore data without letting iTunes sneak in a firmware update?

My Iphone has already been unlocked.
Is there any different procedures to be followed or different programs to be downloaded?

hay simon.. i got this fuckin freak kinda problm which is making me go nutss .. i succusfully jailbreakd my ifone using blackra1n n now when i open it say please check your internet connection… i tried opening it atleast 12 times till now n also reseted my network settings. help me wht should i do.. other than dis my iphone 3g 8gb firmware 3.1.2 is working f9 there r no headfone speaker or any issues as mentioned by may of the visitors here……..
