blackra1n-comGeoHot has released an updated version of his jailbreak tool – Blackra1n RC2. Known as the easiest jailbreak tool that the whole jailbreak process completes in 30 seconds, blackra1n targets to jailbreak any iPhone running OS 3.1.2. The RC2 version comes with the following updates:

  • Fixed 3G issues
  • Tethered jailbreak for 3.1 OOTB ipt 8GB and new 3GS
  • Fixed Icy issues

Both Windows and Mac versions are available. You can download them via blackra1n.com. If you have already jailbroken your iPhone using previous version (i.e. RC1) of blackra1n, you do not need to use RC2. However, if blackra1n RC1 does not work for you, please try to run the jailbreak using RC2.

@kelvin,

You’re right. Blackra1n RC1 got some icy issues. That’s why you can see from comments in the earlier post that it’s not recommended to install Icy for RC1. In RC2, this issue is fixed as mentioned by the developer.

The 3g that i have on 3.1.2 does not get signal with a non iphone att sim. But that same sim works fine in my other iphone with 3.0.1, ideas? Do i need to unlock it to use it with a random att sim? Or do i need to restore it with 3.0.1?

I’m trying to let a coworker try out my back up iphone. The one i can’t use cause it has the newer base band and i’m on tmobile.

@Jogb, the developer doesn’t mention the details of the bug fixes. If you haven’t used blackra1n before, use RC2. However, if you’ve successfully jailbroken your iPhone using RC1, no need to jailbreak again using RC2.

@tony, no hacktivation for blackra1n. You need to use an official sim when using with blackra1n.
