Last time, we talked about using Nike+ to pair with iPhone 3GS to keep track your workouts. The problem is Nike+ sport kit officially can only be used with Nike+ compatible shoe, which has a pocket under the insole. It’s just too expensive to buy a brand-new pair of Nike+ shoe. So, how can you use Nike+ sensor with other brands of athletic shoes?
It’s simple. You can purchase a shoe pouch from Grantwood Technology that secures the Nike+ sensor outside of your shoe. You attach the shoe pouch through your shoelaces:
1. Expose the slit under the Velcro®. Place sensor face down (Apple and Nike logo down) through the slit of the Shoe Pouch™, and make sure it is completely inside the Shoe Pouch™. The Apple and Nike logo on the sensor should be facing up when you attach the Shoe Pouch™ to your shoe.
2. Once the sensor is completely inserted, close the slit with the Velcro®. The red logo side of the sensor and the Shoe Pouch™ logo should be facing up when you attach the Shoe Pouch™ to your shoe.
3. Unlace shoes to bottom lace. Pass the shoelaces through the four attachment points in the Shoe Pouch™ to securely attach to your shoe.
4. Final View

The shoe pouch comes with a wide range of colors and is sold at US$5.75 via Amazon.
The shoe pouch from Grantwood Technology works great but it is not the only product to pair with Nike+ sensor with non-Nike shoe. You can also consider the shoe pouch from Marware.
Don’t want to spend a dollar on the shoe pouch? You can also check out the “Poor Man Hack: Nike+iPod Sport Kit Shoe Mod” that offers a cheap way to attach the sensor to your non-Nike shoe.
