Concept Video: What if iPhone Supports MultiTasking

Don’t get me wrong. Multitasking support is one of the most requested features but iPhone doesn’t allow third-party apps to run in background for now.

However, let’s consider. What if iPhone opens up the multitasking support? How can you manage the background apps and switch between them?

The Swedish firm answers the above question by showing you a concept video. The idea is you can manage the multitask by using Cover Flow, just like you use it to scroll through your albums in iPod.

Our idea is to present the running apps together with the rest of your app icons on the home screen, instead of hiding them behind long pressing some unrelated key. All running apps have a miniature representation in a cover flow at the bottom of the screen. To make room for this, each home screen page will have one less row of icons and the dock is removed completely. But since the running apps often will equal your favourites, they will still be easily accessible.

To see it in action, you can further check out the video:

Managing background apps by using Cover Flow is pretty intuitive. But the question is: when will Apple support multitasking on iPhone? Pushing notification is not the answer. We need the true multitasking support on iPhone.
