Video: Brings Mac’s Dashboard to iPhone

Dashboard for Mac OS X Few days ago, you’ve watched the proof-of-concept video about Expose on iPhone. Steven Toughton-Smith, an iPhone developer, has brought another Mac feature to iPhone – The Dashboard.

For those not coming from Mac world, Dashboard is an application in Mac OS X that hosts mini-applications called Widgets. Normally, the dashboard is invisible and invoked by a hot key or mouse click. Once activated, the user’s desktop is dimmed and overlaid with all kinds of widgets such as stock quote, calculator, notepad, etc. Dashboard is a great application for Mac user and lets you access those useful & regularly-used widgets by one-click.

It’s great to see Steven brings this useful feature from Mac to iPhone. As mentioned in Twitter, he has completed the development of Dashboard for iPhone. However, he’s not going to release it right now until he figures out a clear purpose for the app.

Would it be able to have widgets that:
- shows the day’s calendar events
- show to do (tasks)
- sticky notes (shown in video)

if so, I think you see how I would use it!

2 Simon Ng October 11, 2009 at 1:54 pm: @Ron, that’s a great suggestion. I think the dashboard is also great for us to put some frequently-used applications. So, we can access it with fewer taps.
