Personalize Your Comment with Gravatar

Though I’m not able to respond to every comment, I love reading them, no matter it’s a tip or just a simple question. As a reader, when you go through the comments, you may aware a profile photo appeared next to the commenter. For most comments, you can only see a gray icon next to the commenter’s name. Some readers asked,

“What happen? How come I cannot show my own photo in my comment?”

Good to hear that. At SimonBlog, we use gravatar.com to provide the avatar (i.e. the photo appeared next to your comment) service. If your email is not registered on Gravatar, it’ll display the default icon (i.e. the gray icon). For those who haven’t heard of Gravatar, it stands for globally recognized avatar that allows you to register an avatar at its website and then use it globally. What you have to do is to register an account at Gravatar.com with your email address and upload your own photo to associate with that email. Next time, when you post comment with the registered email on my blog or other blogs (powered by Gravatar), you should see your own photo next to the comment.

Go ahead to register an account at Gravatar.com and give yourself an identity. That’ll make your comment more personalized and fun. Looking forward to see your own photo in future comments!

Don’t want to show your true identity? Not a problem. You can create a cartoon avatar using Weeworld.

Alternatively, you can also leave your comment with your Facebook account to show your profile picture.
