Do You Experience Battery Improvement after iPhone 3.1 Upgrade?

by Simon Ng on September 13, 2009

One problem for iPhone OS 3.0 is about the battery life. Some users reported that the battery life is degraded after upgrading to iPhone 3.0.

As you all know, Apple has released iPhone OS 3.1 few days ago. However, in the release note, it doesn’t mention any bug fix or improvement about the battery life. Despite of this, I’d like to check with you:

Is the battery life improved on iPhone 3.1? For me, it seems like a little bit better. I haven’t performed any serious test on it. It’s just my first impression after the upgrade. So, how about you?

Do you experience any battery improvement after upgrading to iPhone 3.1?

What about: ‘No. I think it’s worse.’?

My battery ran flat yesterday, without me using it. I upgraded on Thursday.

I’m hoping this is unrelated!

Agree with Deon… on Apple forums, many iPhone users who’ve upgraded to 3.1 are reporting *worse* battery life: See this thread with 6459 views already!

My battery life was so bad on my old 2g from ebay with 3.0.1 FW that I sent the phone to iresq for a new battery. It hasn;t come back yet so I don;t know if that will help.

I was hoping the battery drain would go away after a couple days after the update like when I updated to 3.0. But it’s become so bad I’ve deleted apps and made other adjustments that have rendered my beautiful iPhone far less capable. I’m no techie so I don’t know the specifics, but the handy new iTunes capabilities and a neat app recommendator were NOT worth the headaches. Sure I can reset my phone when it freezes, but doing so much more often is annoying. I tried to revert back to the way it was before the upgrade and then just try it again after they fixed all the bugs, but I can’t figure out how. I’m getting tired of carrying my charger with me everywhere.

the phone’s back with a new battery and I think battery life is a little better, but not like it was with FW 2,0,1, I have also tried to turn off all push things and fetch things and location services which seems to help.

Did upgrade my german T-Mobile iPhone 3GS from OS3.o to 3.o.1 to 3.1!
And in fact, the battery life increased! Before OS3.1, I used it about one day and the battery got tired… very sad… so i got to recharge it. But for now, i used it for about 20 minutes and it has been for standby for 1h 20min and it still has got 100%!
(On earlier Versions I experiencend worser power ratings!)
Awesome! Good work @ Apple! :)
Greetings ;)
