You probably have upgraded to iPhone 3.0. But do you know the Stock application has been improved with minor tweaks? I guess not every iPhone user notice the changes.

The Stock app is a very simple app that lets you keep track of stock price of your portfolio. Before the release of iPhone 3.0 OS, it only shows the delayed stock quote, as well as, a simple chart of historical stock price. On iPhone 3.0, Apple improves the Stock app with a couple of features:

1. News & Stock Summary
2. Landscape mode support

News & Stock Summary

When you first launch Stock app, the look & feel doesn’t change much. But try to drag the stock chart from right to left and you can see the latest news related to the stock. On the other hand, flick the chart from left to right, you can find the stock summary.

Landscape Support

Another tweak of stock app is the support of landscape mode. Simply rotate your iPhone to landscape orientation, the stock app shows you an enhanced version of stock chart. Use your finger and tap on the line chart. It’ll show you the stock price at any given point.

And, try to use two fingers and tap on any two points of the stock chart. It will show you the percentage of change over that period.
