Fail to Unlock iPhone 3G? Try Ultrasn0w 0.9

Today, iPhone Dev team updated ultrasn0w to v0.9 with lots of bug fixes. As claimed, this version fixed numerous issues that were found on older version of the unlock software.

Same as the previous version, ultrasn0w 0.9 can unlock both iPhone 3G and 3GS. Before using ultrasn0w, the iPhone should be jailbroken via redsn0w, PwnageTool or Purplera1n. And, as always, ultrasn0w is now available to download via Cydia.

As I know, some readers have tried the older version (i.e. 0.6 or 0.8) of ultrasn0w but failed to unlock their iPhone 3G. Also, some reported the missing SIM or no network issues. As claimed by the dev team, the latest version of ultrasn0w already fixed these issues. So, if you fail to unlock your iPhone 3G or 3GS, try out ultrasn0w 0.9. Many early adopters said this version really works better!

For those who experienced a reduced battery life after using ultrasn0w, iPhone Dev team also mentioned the issue in its post:

ultrasn0w 0.6 did have a problem where the STK refresh command it used crashed the baseband in 3G S. This caused the baseband to continually come up and then restart. That DOES take power and so may explain the issues that people have been seeing. ultrasn0w 0.8 was supposed to have fixed this issue, but perhaps not completely.

With the release of ultrasn0w 0.9, it’s supposed you’ll not experience reduced battery issue.

hi simon,

are you from malaysia?
i got a factory unlocked 3g iphone from hongkong.
after 3months using it, i found out that it kept on hang/panic/restarting by itseft anytime.
do you know what can i do?
or
do you know anybody who is expect is repairing this prob?

i really need your help.

hi simon,

may i know how can i restore the firmware?
it hang/panic again this time.
it appeared differently this time. at first is the black out with apple logo.
then, appear to connect it to itunes, which it did not restore itself until i connected to itunes to restore.
then, it appeared to a screen with a lot of word.
….
last sentence was panic: we are hanging here… uatiopn…

do u have msn messenger?
can i ask u from there?

I cannot find the link to download Redsn0w anywhere here or in the dev team website. :/ I am looking to jailbreak my 3g iphone on 3.0 with it.

I am looking for the right software right?

Hi Simon,
I managed to install ultrasnow on my iphone 3G, I’m currently using operator et****** and try to put other simcard from other country it works fine since it roams with et******, but when I change to other operator simcard (here in the same country) it can get the operator logo but only can do emergency call and error message appear : “the different SIM card is detected, please connect to iTunes”, when I connect to iTunes it says “the SIM card inserted on this phone is not suppoerted; please insert SIMcard that came with your iPhone…” ???
it means I cannot use other SIM card from other operator and means my phone is not UNLOCKED??
Please help or anyone has the similar problem? I have restore couple times but still the problem persist.
