The Sims 3 was one of the most anticipated games for the Apple iPhone. The wait is over. Fortunately, it is now available for download at App Store [via this direct iTunes link] and ready to be played by anybody who is interested.
The question is: can the Sims 3 live up to all the hype? Is this game destined to become a top seller, or will it fade into the background for the time being? The only way of answering this question for sure is to give it a try. After testing the game out I have a better idea of what it offers, as well as what it is lacking.
The review is broken down into three parts and this is the first part of the series.
Graphics
When it comes to the graphics, I have to say this: Sims 3 is better than the previous version for my Mac. In fact, I feel that it is much better. If you know anything about the Sims games you know that all the characters have a certain “look and feel.” This stays consistent when playing on the iPhone.
One thing I did notice was that it can be difficult to customize a player to resemble yourself. This may not be a big deal to you, but for many it is. With a little bit of tweaking, you should be able to come up with a character that suits your needs.

For the most part, Sims 3 offers high quality graphics. There is nothing in this area that should slow you down for too long.
Sound
Like most Sims games, the sound is not something you pay too much attention to. This is far from a benefit of Sims 3, but again, there is nothing so bad that it will ruin your experience. Once you get used to the sounds of Sims 3 and when to expect them, everything else pretty much falls into place.
There is a lot to like about the graphics and sound associated with the Sims 3 for iPhone. Simply put, there is more good than bad in these two areas.
