Earlier, there are rumors around that the next gen iPhone will come with a digital compass. A Hong Kong website, UMPCFever.com, has posted several first-ever photos that are claimed to be taken by the next-gen iPhone.

According to the website, the next-gen iPhone is confirmed to come with a digital compass and auto-focus camera that you can see an on-screen square which highlights the object in focus.

Further look into the photo, the new Camera application introduces a switch in lower-right corner that allows you to toggle between photo and video mode.

With the auto-focus feature, the website also showed a comparison between a photo taken by the new iPhone and the old iPhone. (Top: Photo taken by new iPhone, Bottom: Photo taken by old iPhone 2G)

The website also demonstrates a number of confirmed features in iPhone OS 3.0 such as revamped Stock application, MMS and digital recorder.

For those who are planning to upgrade from iPhone 2G to iPhone 3G, my suggestion is to wait for a month longer. It’s very likely Apple will announce the next gen iPhone some time in Jun or Jul.
