Type Faster on iPhone using iTypeFastR

A new iPhone app called iTypeFastR targets to let you type faster with few typos.

The team behind iTypeFastR has a primary goal – Let iPhone user to type faster on the virtual keyboard. They have done an extensive research and comes up with a revolutionary virtual keyboard for iPhone. For the first glance, that looks really strange. The key layout is quite similar to the ordinary keyboard but varies in key size. But the team explained that the keyboard is designed based on the following rationale:

Much larger keys for the letters used most often – It’s a simple concept. Make those frequently-used key bigger and those sparely-used one smaller. For example, the letter “E” is used 100 times more than the letter “Q”. You’ll see a big “E” and a relatively smaller “Q” in the keyboard.
Optimized key design – The key design is optimized based on extensive testing. The team has adjusted the design pixel by pixel to get it right. They even based on millions messages on twitter and counted the frequency of used keys to determine the numeric keyboard.
Special features based on our user’s input – One special feature I’d like to highlight “smile” key. You can type in one keystroke. I really like it.

From my preliminary test, iTypeFastR works great. Probably you have to take a few minutes to adapt to the new key layout. But as soon as you get used to the new design, you’ll find you can type with less typos. Those big key works pretty great for my big finger.

iTypeFastR runs on iPhones and iPod Touch with firmware 2.0 or up. But remember this app only works on jailbroken iPhone and requires you to have Cydia installed.

It’s straightforward to install iTypeFastR on iPhone. Just fire up Cydia and search for iTypeFastR. Install it and reboot your iPhone. That’s it. You can then launch iTypeFastR keyboard by tapping the Globe button in Notes, Email or any other applications with keyboard.
