If you are feeling adventurous head on to iPhone-Dev team's blog and use the recently released redsn0w to unlock. BTW, the unlock will only jailbreak and sim-unlock 2G iPhones, not the 3G iPhones (you will need ultrasn0w for sim-unlock).
