Winterboard Theme: Storm Keyboard for iPhone

by Simon Ng on March 10, 2009

Blackberry Storm Keyboard for iPhoneSince I published the post about turning your iPhone into Blackberry Storm using PerformStorm theme, I got quite a number for positive emails about this theme, especially the keyboard:

“I love this theme, particularly the Blackberry keyboard!!!”

“The theme and the keyboard is really great!”

“PerfectStorm theme looks pretty good. But anyway to theme the keyboard only?”

Seems Rob Grohman has heard of your comments and released a Storm keyboard theme for iPhone. The Blackberry keyboard looks really cool on iPhone.

The Storm keyboard theme works with Winterboard. Once you can download it from Cydia, enable the theme using Winterboard.

For those who only loves the Storm keyboard of PerfectStorm theme, this standalone keyboard theme is right for you.

I had my iphone hacked 2.x and used the instructions on this site to go back to native mode. But I noticed after I did that, a winterboard themed app that had “ghost” icons (for the blackberry theme), that allowed for the top row of the main springboard page to show the big time, were left afterwards. Now I have a factory phone with these “ghost” or invisible icons that won’t go away and when accidently touched take me to dezign999.com. My question is, how do I remove these?! Sorry for the post here but could find a way to contact directly and couldn’t find information online. Thanks!

I had that problem too and it went away after I got rid of the blackberry theme. That was annoying as hell.

What’s the source? I had this awesome keyboard theme and then I upgraded. I know that keyboard theming doesn’t work on 3.0 but I wanna have it downloaded so I can use it for when Winterboard gets updated ^_^

@joe, to use Winterboard, you’ll need to jailbreak your iPhone. For iPhone 3.0, you can use redsn0w for the jailbreak.

winterboard has to be updated for 3.0 first.

once that happens then the keyboard stuff will come back.

Cj were having the same problem. I’m on the latest jailbreak 3.1.2 with blackra1n and when I choose a theme for the keyboards it won’t show, it’ll be be the default keyboard. If anyone has a solution please reply or write to mike_monsalve21@yahoo.com

CK, Mike,

If you guys get an answer for this problem, let me know. I’m having the same issues. I installed 3gStormKB and the keys are still the default keys. I clicking should has changed and sometimes you can see a glimsp of the black Storm space bar when switching back and forth from emoji or numbers keyboard. Thanks.

I’m pretty sure custom keyboards do not work in 3.x. I remember Saurik twittering about how they changed something, and due to a technical limitation, he couldn’t get it working.

(I authored the blog link above, too :P )

The only person that’s really ever tried on 3.x was Saurik, and he himself said that no, it was not possible.

Jailbreak 2.x if you really want it.
