ℏClipboard – Another Copy & Paste Application for iPhone

by Simon Ng on February 18, 2009

hclipboardSome time ago, I have reported a Cydia application named “Clippy” that brings global copy & paste to iPhone.

If you do not like Clippy, here is the alternative — ℏClipboard.

Same as Clippy, ℏClipboard offers system-wide copy & paste solution to any jailbroken iPhone. However, unlike Clippy that adds copy & paste buttons to iPhone keyboard, ℏClipboard creates a new copy & paste international keyboard using iKeyEx.

Installing ℏClipboard

ℏClipboard is freely available for download via Cydia. But you won’t find any application icon after installation on iPhone home screen. To activate ℏClipboard, go to Settings -> General -> Keyboard -> International Keyboards. You’ll find a new iKeyEx keyboards called “ℏClipboard”. Switch it on to enable copy & paste.

Enable hClipboard Keyboard

As claimed, ℏClipboard works with nearly all applications including Notes, Safari, Mail, Text, etc. Let’s try to launch Notes and test out ℏClipboard. As soon you see the keyboard, type some text and tap the International button (the Globe) to switch to ℏClipboard.

Copy Text

To copy the entire content of the text to clipboard, just tap the copy button and you’ll see the whole text copy to the clipboard.

Paste Text

Pasting text using ℏClipboard is very straightforward. Just tap any text inside the clipboard and the text is pasted.

Copy a portion of text

hclipboard_select_to_herehclipboard_select_to_hereIf you have used Clippy before, you can tap and hold to select portion of text. For ℏClipboard, it doesn’t offer such feature. To select text, move the cursor the beginning of text you want to copy and tap “Select from here” button. Then go to the end of the text and tap “Select to here” button. The portion of text will be copied to clipboard.

So, Clippy or ℏClipboard?

Clippy - Copy, Paste, Stack & CloseSomeone say ℏClipboard is the best. And of course, some prefers Clippy for copy & paste. Both are great attempts to bring copy & paste to iPhone. Personally, however, I prefer Clippy over ℏClipboard for the reason that I do not need to switch between the keyboard and clipboard. I can do “Copy & Paste” and type text on the same keyboard.

Anyway, ℏClipboard is a great alternative to Clippy. So, what do you think about ℏClipboard? Leave us comment and share your thought.

I prefer Clippy. By the way, are you hosting this website yourself or is there another way to get this theme?
