iPhone Dev Team Confirmed iPhone 3G Unlock Date

by Simon Ng on December 17, 2008

Further to my post about the release of iPhone 3G unlock solution, iPhone Dev Team confirmed that they aimed to release the iPhone 3G Unlock solution by New Year’s Eve 2008.

Not all iPhone 3G is able to unlock. This unlock solution is available to iPhone 3Gs that have 2.11.07 baseband or earlier. You may check your baseband version by going to Settings -> General -> About and look for “Modem Firmware“.

The unlock requires a jailbroken iPhone 3G. And what’s great is the unlock solution is downloadable via Cydia (similar to Bootneuter).

I’ll keep you update when the unlock solution is officially released. Stay tuned.

Nick, for newer version of baseband, you may probably need to wait for a little bit longer. iPhone Dev Team haven’t announced the exact release date. I’ll keep you update on it.
